So this is good at cutting thick branches - how good is it for cutting thinner ones, is it too heavy and unwieldy for finer work?

I have tried it on thick and thin branches and it cuts through both with ease. I am 78 years old and I can handle it ok. I find it well balanced, it is robust but not too heavy.

What is the small protruding tip on the steel GG12A anvil loppers for?

The small protruding lip holds the wood in place as the sharp side makes the cut .. it would be forced out otherwise .. i’ve Had these some time now , they are very durable ..

Could these be used to cut some fairly thick laurel tree branches?

These loppers are the best I have used they will cut branches up to 40-50mm thick.Branches that are thicker you would have to use saw or chainsaw.

I would imagine so , I’ve had mine now for three years they are the best loppers I’ve had ,you shouldn’t have any problems .
