Challenging and expensive - but works
The price is high and it takes a lot of trial and error. But I got it to work. If I could get it for less then I’d give better rating.

Don't Buy this Rip OFF!!!
I should have listened to other reviews and never bought EZ Patch! A word to the wise!!I learned the hard way they were right! NEVER buy this product! Leslie Pool supplies sells a far superior quality product at less than half the price. Leslie's "Patch IT" sold on the internet and shipped free is a far better product and much cheaper. EZ Patch is coarse and very sandy and is no different than a cheap cement you can get at Home Depot for far, far less. Leslie's product is a smooth and higher quality product which is perfect for patching plaster pools. I love Leslie's product and tried both of them. I would NEVER buy EZ Patch again! It's a rip off ! Don't buy it! The Home Depot product is much, much cheaper and is essentially identical. The Home Depot product comes in a 80 lbf bag and costs only about $10. Leslie's "Patch IT" comes is only 10 lbf buckets but it is a smoother fast drying (3 minutes) product and costs $26.00 EZ Patch is a coarse grained product making small patch repair inferior and it costs an outrageous $59!!! This is outrageously priced and a poor quality product. The Home Depot plaster repair cement does exactly what EZ PATCH DOES AND FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS.

My patch pal.
This is the second batch of this that I have ordered. If you follow the directions this stuff works great. Takes a little practice but that was my issue not the product and not the instructions. Take your time and will look like a pro did it.

Decent for a quick patch but on some areas the patch didn't hold and I allowed it to fully cure above water. This is just meant for a temporary fix while we get bids to replaster the pool. Don't expect too much and be prepared to reapply again if the patch washes away.

Few options for use
My first step is loosing plaster. I tried this first without draining down and used under water process. By doing so there is a considerable amount of waste. So I drained the pool down to just below the first step and used the dry way. Much easier without 60% of waste of material. Both ways seem to bond well. Final determination to come after several months. If using under water be sure to have your filter suction hose next to where your working.

ineffective for underwater patching
Used on a full pool. Followed instructions to the letter. Mixed above pool, grab handful glob of mixed product, put hand in pool and it disintegrated into a fog so I couldn’t see the area I was trying to patch. I had to work by feel. Very difficult! When the fog cleared I tried again and again, finally gave up. Later I found globs of hardened plaster nearby that I had to scrape off, and my pool filter was clogged so much I had to clean it twice over the next 2 days. I would not recommend.
