Interesting book, but not too technical
I like roller coasters, and I enjoyed this book. It's fairly short, but it has a lot of information. It took me under an hour to read, so buyers wil want to keep that in mind when deciding if they want to buy it.It covers information on roller coaster design, on the differences between different types of launch system, and on wooden versus metal coasters. There is interesting information on safety, and on how multiple carriages can be used on the same coaster.I now understand more about why you see carriages running empty, and I was particularly interested in learning how dual coasters (where two carriages on different tracks pass each other) work. I've always wondered how they can come so close every time when there are different sizes of people in the two carriages - now I know how! It was very interesting to read about the testing schedule on coasters, and the effort that goes in to preventing accidents.I picked up some tips - e.g. coasters running later in the day tend to go faster - and found the book useful.
