Can the wire be twisted around a nail without ruining the product?

I have a lot of experience with these lights. I have 7 sets of them. While I have not wrapped them around nails, I would say you can. As long as you are careful and wrap the copper wiring part (in between the LEDS) around the nail and avoid wrapping the very small section where the LED is soldered to the wires. The LEDs are spaced about every 4 inches or so and the wire and the LEDs are covered in some kind of clear, electrically insulating, conformal coating. If you wrapped the LED part too tightly around a small diameter object like a nail, you might damage the solder connection. They are tougher than they look but are definitely not indestructible.

Is it says on and off switch does this mean I have to turn a switch on every day or night? Or is it automatic turn on itself ？

How do you set the modes? How can I set it and choose the mode I like?

Once you have selected the mode as others have described, you do have to leave the on/off switch on. The mode is only remembered between daily on and off cycles if the switch is on. As soon as and every time you turn the switch from off to on, you will have to set the mode. The default mode when the on/off switch is turned on is continually cycling between all modes.

If one bulb is broken does the whole string go out?

No. the other bulbs could still light up.
