very enjoyable
Very twisty, very enjoyable. The connections weren’t obvious until the end, which was lovely! I am getting heavily invested in the characters now.

Mostly a good detective series
I am beginning to think this is the last of the series I will read, I enjoy the mystery, but just cannot stand one of the characters, that of Tamara greave. I am sure someone of her level of total incompetence could not hold the job down that long before being caught out. A great shame as the author shows great imagination.

Great Read
This is a great series. The investigations have nearly all I need in a police procedural. The story canters along at a good pace, with plenty of twists and turns and ample gory murders to keep me happy. The main characters are well crafted and appealing. The team are well matched and are becoming like good friends as the series progresses. Recommended read

Tom solved the crime again!
Once again Tom and Alice’s relationship is tested but comes through ok. A twisted tale but very gripping. The team work quickly to solve two murders which are linked but by different to normal means. Great read.

Chilling?
Described as a ‘chilling British detective novel’ you would imagine it would be errr.... chilling. I was distinctly unchilled for every one of its way too many pages. I’m going back to Karin Slaughter for some proper juicy chilling! It was worth the few quid and it passed a few isolation hours, but really? Nothing to write home about.

Another page Turner well worth the read thank You Sir. Now going to start the next in the series I bet it will be as good or maybe better than this one unlikely though

my mistake!
I mistook this writer for a professional writer whose books I have seen in shops, but alas. This is privately printed, in Japan no less, and contains all the printing and grammatical errors one would expect from an MS with no proofreading whatsoever. Too bad for the hefty price attached. And of course, no editing, nobody to explain to the amateur writer where he has gone wrong. No professional person to suggest, for example, that the writer might add descriptions of the characters so we know who they are (DCI, for example, needs more than just a first name the first time she appears) and, erm, what they look like and so on. Not to mention actual personalities, perhaps. There is plenty of geographical detail, rooms full of furniture, but no dramatic pacing, overall story construction, or...clues! (The tec solves it all in his mind, then tells us about it.)It is a shame because the plot is not bad, and if it were professionally done it might rate as high as a 3. The writer needs to take writing courses on story construction, have his MSS professionally proofread, and most of all have an editor edit it. The fawning reviews on this page must have been done by friends.Don't give up your day job, JM!

great story
Great characters and a story that keeps you guessing until the very end. Looking forward to seeing if the next one is as good
