Outdoor Hessian Flower Pouches Hanging Bags Pack of 10 - Green

I've put trailing violas, petunias and begonias in the pouches I bought and they look absolutely glorious even though I am not really much of a gardener. I had to use a bit of common sense when filling them initially. I filled them up when they were standing and then laid them at an angle to plant into them (you get instructions with the pouches). I was using medium plugs and they were a bit big to plant in the existing holes so I very carefully extended the vertical cuts in each planting hole and gently squeezed the plugs in after making a hole in the soil with a stick. I'm glad I didn't make the holes much bigger or the soil would come out when watered. My fence posts weren't suitable for hanging with the handle at the top - they are very wide posts - so I extended the handles with green nylon rope and they look fine. When I water them I pull them away from the fence a little bit or the water tends to come out through the holes in the front without wetting the back of the pouch. I am really pleased with the results I have got from these pouches. At the end of the year I will empty them, wash them out and use them again next year.

I ordered these thinking they were going to be the same as the hessian fabric ones - they are not. They seem sturdy as you can see from the pictures the flowers look gorgeous. It remains to be seen as the season goes on how sturdy they are compared to the fabric hessian ones or visa versa. But I am delighted with my hanging flower pouches so far and have had loads of compliments.

Disappointed as these are not hessian as advertised but plastic. Not sure they are going to be up to a full bag of compost and flowers and popped on the fence but will try and see if I can update this once I know more.

Plants must have a small root base to be able to insert into the slit openings. Otherwise very good.Bag made of strong plastic and will be reusable next year.

Difficult to fill with compost and could not get plants in without making holes very large. Water then spilled out. Dried out quickly

purchased to replace the plastic type, as these never did look very good, planted one up allready and looks 100% better than the plastic version, you can see from the condition of the hession if watering is required. only - side is i would have liked them better if they did not have pre cut planting slots as these are down the sides, i had to cut my own down the centre to plant larger plant plugs,

I have found these pouches much too strong and the openings too tiny. I know it has been a bad year so far but the begonias I inserted after enlarging the pockets have not thrived as I would have wished. I did keep the pouches horivontal in the greenhouse until they apeared to be well rooted.I will try again with different plants as I still have 8 pouches unused. Busy Lizzies or pansies might yield better results.
