We will probably never see the like again
This glossy paperback is a compilation of four comics released after the release of Fury Road and, whilst they are so-so in terms of their individual value, provide a glimpse of something we rarely get to see in movies; a directors backstory for individual characters from the film. Viewed in this way they are not only stunning but also invaluable. The four tales (five, with the exclusive, never before published, War Rig short) are all written by George Miller and are linked together in a familiar way for Mad Max fans; by a storyteller talking from the future. In this case it's one of the WordBurgers we heard so much about in the run up to the films release, kind of like Savannah Nix (from Thunderdome) but speaking from Fury Road's citadel of the future. The stories hark back to the past but with a Rashomon effect, that is to say slightly different, misheard, to what you remember. It works well, and plugs many of the supposed continuity errors from Fury Road. The first story 'Immortan Joe and Nux' gives us those characters back stories, there's not much we couldn't have guessed to be honest in terms of Joe, but Nux is filled out slightly. There's also a nod to two much loved peripheral characters from the first film, which will have fans smiling.'Furiosa' essentially continues Joe's story and covers the weeks immediately before Fury Road, wives and all.The most interesting two stories focus on Max and link the mad max game, Fury Road and the original trilogy. Indeed the first three pages give us Jessie, sprog, Wez, Hummungous and Auntie and go on to answer the questions over Max's "mother and daughter" flashbacks from the latest film. It makes sense. Miller also explains how the Interceptor is back, this seems a little bizarre and far fetched...still its and answer. So that leaves us with the exclusive short; 'War Rig'. A great little short, which not only explains the origin of that vehicle in a way that improves the film, but also several other Fury Road vehicles. The age of the characters in the timelines is a little strange but still i'd welcome a follow up for the remaining work that was done on Fury Road (Doof Warrior anyone) because seldom has so much prep been done on a film, and perhaps we will never see the like again. 24 years in the making.Essential stuff.

Fang it! Fang it!
I loved the film to the point of obsession, so I was always going to enjoy this collection as it would prolong my time in Miller's Wasteland. It looks great; it's nice and dark in places; it sets up the events of the film really nicely. Fascinating. Satisfying.

Nice prequel tales
Nice prequel tales, but sadly not the prequel story really I was looking for on how Max was caught before the new film!

Great from start to finish!
Absolutely fantastic! It takes you straight into the Mad Max universe and expands on it, with great artwork and attention to detail. I only wish they'd made a whole series of these!

Accompanying stories to the film
Such a surprise to find out that this was a collection of stories surrounding the events of the film rather than just a retelling of the film, that I was expecting. Really liked the finale story about the creation of the war rig truck.

Great graphic novel filling in the gaps of the Mad Max saga
This great graphic novel fill in the gaps in the Mad Max saga. It also answers a few questions like where does Max get another Interceptor and who is the child that haunts him. A must read for Mad Max and Post Apocalyptic fans.

Three Stars
Not really essential but not bad either. The Max story does expand on the film somewhat.

Top notch artistry and storytelling
I couldn't be more pleased with this graphic novel. The artistry is first-rate. The stories are compelling. and it has all of the post-apocalyptic nihilism and road-roaring rage of the movies, as well as the tough heart of the movie protagonists and heartlessness of the bad guys. The movie started with some clear gaps that needed answering, and this book answers those. For instance, what was the story behind the "brides" and how Furiosa came to protect them? Or what's the backstory on Immortan Joe? The graphic novel also tells us the background for Nux, a couple novel stories for Max before he came to the movie, and even a chapter on the history of the War Rig!Not only does it have the movie director, George Miller, at the helm, but veteran Mad Max storyboarder and artist Mark Sexton contributing to the art. Any fan of Mad Max should purchase and read this at once!

Don't buy from Amazing_buy
Don't buy from Amazing_buy. The seller has one defective copy which he is selling over(that's why it says "only one left in stock"). I ordered it so I know. It is cheap from this particular seller for this reason. Do yourself a favour and spend some more on a perfect copy. It's a must have book for every Mad Max fan.
