Polyvine Heavy Duty Floor Varnish Dead Flat 1 Litre

I have used other products in the past where "matt" really means a slight sheen to the finish. But this is the real macoy. I used it over a decoupaged piece of furniture that I had covered in maps and wanted to maintain the paper appearance and you really cannot see that there is any varnish on it at all, even after 4 coats. It is very easy to apply and dries quickly, allowing for multiple coats in a short space of time.The satin finish in this same product gives a beautiful silky feel to the finish and you don't get that with this, but it depends what result you are after. I have used this varnish on all sorts of projects but never on a floor so can't vouch for its hardwearingness (probably no such word!). But I have used it to protect a dining table I painted and gilded and it has stood up brilliantly.

Easy to use and to clean after use, applies and dries quickly, time will tell about durability but it is one of the best known brands on the market.

Perfect for sealing floors!

I put several coats of this on my oak kitchen island, seating end, lightly sanded in between coats and allowed to properly dry between coats. It has exceeded my expectations. The finish is dead flat as promised but also very stain resistant, even red wine (I hate coasters because of clutter) and wipeable. Exactly what I wanted but I took care to apply many coats, with a foam roller, and to the underside too as the joiner said the oak would buckle if I didn't treat the underside. Perfect product for what I wanted.

Very easy to use

We varnished an oak tread between the sitting room and the kitchen.Within 3 weeks of application, a piece of popcorn had accidentally been trodden into/onto the tread and the small amount of grease from it, transferred onto the wood and marked the supposedly protected wood with a greasy stain, which wouldn't come off.We're re-sanding now and re-doing with another more protective varnish. We might as well have not bothered with this one at all.
