sick bumper for the price
awsome very sturdy tire carrier but the instructions could be a little more clear maybe some pictures would be nice the only pictures i got was the assembly of the berrings into the actual pivot point of the tire carrier all other assembly was pretty much me being mechanically inclined lol but i got it and it adds about 80 lbs to the body armor rear bumper which is about 70 lbs so very stong and heavy duty havent had a problem with the tire swing arm comeing open i think if u install it right and tighten it so that it cant pop out it works well i left the stock tire bump stops on and that seems to help with the tension against the swing arm so it has no movement !! which to me is key . the instructions say to put one lug on the left side of the tire mount plate and two on the right when for my 07 wrangler jk its the opposite two on left and one on right other than the little issues this thing is heavy duty and looks sick now for some d rings and maybe the third tail light from body armor and im set thanks amazon ur awsome and thanks body armor ur awsome

Do not buy this...
You should not buy this product. The installation was a breeze and the carrier is very nice but there is one HUGE problem. The latch will not stay latched. In the last week my latch as come lose 3 times. 3 times my tire carrier has completely opened and when I went to stop it slammed back against the bumper. It scared the pants off me. What is going to happen when I'm going down the road and this thing opens and hits another car? Just irritating.

good tire carrier
bought the carrier and the bumper for my jku and am very pleased. the only thing I don't like about it is the locking latch. it came undone one me once when I was driving and I have it adjusted tight and everything is right it just doesn't want to stay latched well. I keep a small bungee cord on it and that solved the problem. for the money it is well worth it.

Quality materials, Design flaws, and a couple of missing key parts.
Build quality is good, Finish is good HOWEVERThe item pictured does not come with the latch pin at the handle.Problems I ran into while installing it and with its final use:1. You need a special tool to tighten down the lock nut where the bearings are seated. If it's not tight enough the swing arm will scrape at the latch area against the bumper. Furthermore there was no included cotter pin. Without this cotter pin in the lock nut, everytime you open/close the swing-arm the lock nut will loosen and the swing arm will start sagging.2. Latch feels pretty tight but after reading other reviews, I became paranoid and fabricated a fastener to prevent any play/slop in the latch while the vehicle is in motion.I have a video on this modification[...]3. The cap for the bearings would be impossible to remove without destroying it later on. So I drilled a hole and threaded wire through it to make it easier to extract the cap for future bearing maintenance.I did not have many other options for swing arm bumper combos because I wanted to run jerry cans on the swing arm and didn't want to fab the entire thing myself.

A Good Buy.
I purchased this swing arm a couple of months after purchasing and installing the matching bumper. Installation was really easy. I had to go buy a 36mm socket head to tighten the castle nut. $9 for the socket head at the local car parts store. I torqued it to 100lbs per instructions. I had to reuse my spare tire extender I purchased when I originally upgraded to 35 inch tires. Without it I couldn't mount my 35" tire. No biggie, it bolted right on in 5 minutes. The gate swings open with no sagging at all. I was impressed. The latch which gets bad reviews takes some attention and adjusting. The instruction state that it should take about 30lbs of force to close the latch. So I adjusted the latch accordingly. Took about 15 minutes of adjusting before I was confident it would not come open. I am happy with this product, especially what I paid for it !!! I give it 5 stars because it operates as advertised from the videos I found from SEMA on YouTube. There may be better gates out there, but I don't care to spend that kind of money. Oh also, this is the square tube swing not the round tube swing as shown in the picture. Will try and post a picture.

Takes a load off your back door
1st the image on here is incorrect. After receiving the product I mounted it and it well built very good design using and axle shaft as the hinge. Lots of mixed reviews on the latch. However if you adjust it properly it works just fine. 35" tires were putting too much stress on factory carrier.

Great Product Great Design
Installation was easy, product is built tough, color and powder coating is great. No other discrepancies noted. Holds a 35" tire without issues. Recommend this product highly. Plus the price point is far better than many other swing arm kits.
