Fabulous. This is one of those few books that make the heart genuinely race as you read it. You can tell this is a work of the highest quality, passion & integrity on every page, (along with the two Bear Family Box sets of country & blues of the same name). Makes me wish I was there at the time to witness many of the artists live. Short of a time machine it's the next best thing. Heavy tome reflects the stature of the music.

This book contains a lot of information and history, however, is not a dry and boring history lesson. It is easy to tell that the author spent a lot of time in research and checking the facts. It brings out how an industry is built and the people behind it. I learn much about my father that I did not know. It is the best peice of non-fiction that I have ready in many year.
