I'm a contractor and ordered this for my personal job. I noticed a lot of (layman) reviews when purchasing. Complaints about this and that being wrong. The product is right, they are wrong. Read the descriptions! 3 settings means 3 settings, 1 shower head alone, 2 handheld alone, 3 combo shower head and handheld at the same time. 1,2,3 dah.This trim kit comes with the valve, not the valve body. You need to purchase the valve body separately. This is common for professional shower assemblies, which this is. If your using with a handheld you will need the wall transition elbow as well, also need to purchase shower head, arm, and wall plate separately

There is also a slight difference in texture and finish between the metal and plastic prices. That being said, I feel the unit is over priced for corners that were cut.

So, this is listed as 3-setting, suggested with the 3-way diverter and has 3 positions on the switch...Well , guess what - doesn't work for my 3 outlets ( spout , rain shower and hand shower )... for that you need a 6 setting trim, or get a 6 point valve, but then the trim doesn't match the positions and you have 3 dead positions, which you have to skip...well this has to be the stupidest both design and item descriptions I've seen.

Beautiful, works like Delta should. The reason for the four star instead of five. This "3" setting diverter is not for three separate outlets. Example: It will run a shower head and a rain shower head. Position 1 is the shower head, position 2 is the shower head and rain shower head, position 3 is the rain shower head. If you are looking to run three separate outlets, IE: a shower head, a rain shower head, and a handheld you will need to buy the 6 setting diverter. Or you can purchase this and buy a new diverter valve, : a three function non-shared valve ( RP71718 ) . This will allow you to have three separate, not shared, isolated outlets. The problem with just changing the valve is, the delineation marks on the escutcheon plate don't match any more. This should be more clear on Amazon's site and Delta's site.

I had ordered both a Moen valve and trim kit and the Delta. One in Satin and one polished The valves both seemed well made, but no comparing the trim kits. Moen was light weight with inexpensive foam sealing and Delta was a heavy weight with excellent weight and rubber sealing. CAUTION: This valve includes a 3 position diverter. The same valve body will also work with a 6 position diverter. Normally I would have installed the valve, but this remodel was done in our winter living condo and it is against the rules. The 3 or 6 position diverter trim kits have specific diverter valves. BUT, the KEY is the plumbing. If using the 3 position, you must cap off the diverter port on the RIGHT of the diverter body. Our plumber capped off the left since we were having a shower want mounted on a wall to the right. When we tested the 3 position, only 2 positions worked. Our wand would not operate as a stand alone. Fortunately, we were able to access the valve from the inside of a closet. The temperature control works fine, but the trim handle is plastic. Given the weight and finish of the rest of the valve, one wonders why Delta would use plastic on this.

Very happy with this product. It is one of the few shower controls that actually has the water power, water temperature, and water diverter all on the same piece of trim. It looks great and the price is one of the better deals with all that you get. I shopped around a lot, so I can say that confidently.This is just the trim so you will also need to buy the rough in valve R22000, but you will need to get that anyway with almost any other nice trim like this one.We installed this around waist height and now it can easily be reached when starting the shower without having to bend over and it can still be reached easily if you want to take a bath. The convenience is great.I definitely recommend this product.

I love Delta and their products and think their quality is amazing. I purchased >$2K of Delta hardware for our master bath remodel, including this trim kit. After installing everything, including the R22000 rough-in assembly, a rain shower head, normal shower head, and shower wand, my contractor realized that this only controls 2 outputs. Yes, there are 3 settings to you can merge the 2, but the product name is misleading. I ordered a 6 setting diverter cartridge, after reading that a few people just changed the cartridge ($100 more) and were able to get the 3 outputs working (although the indicators on the trim kit won't be correct).

I'm not a pro, but I'm a fearless and experienced DIY-er. (Been building my own vacation home for several years.) I'm finally down to the finish plumbing. I purchased two of these for both showers. They went in just fine and I'm very pleased with the look and function. Smooth and crisp. Look great.My only hitch during install was that some of the pictures in the installation booklet are so small that it's difficult to determine which direction things go on -- in particular with the hot water regulation/limiter. It took some futzing to figure out how to carry out the instructions successfully. After muddling through the first installation, which took about an hour, the second install took only about 20 minutes.If you're not experienced and don't like reading install instructions, you probably want to avoid this or get a pro to do the install.

I bought the whole shower system: Delta Ara 17 Series, which includes the valve control, rough-in, hand shower and head shower. Installation was straightforward. However the valve did not come in a close position, so when we turn on water for testing before we close the wall, water sprays everywhere. I installed another shower system after, and that did not happen. The valve should be packed in a close position so that we can turn on water for leak test before the wall can be tiled up. Also the knobs seem to be made of plastic and the control knob would not stay on. I called Delta and after 10 minutes talking found out that the number listed is Delta US, they can't send the replacement part to Canada. Delta in Canada is handled through Masco. I contacted Masco Canada and after a few days they got back and told me that part is not available and asked me to contact them again in December? Why do they ask me to contact them again is beyond me. They already have my contact, they know of the problem, why can't they just simply put in the order for the part to send to me when it is available? Anyway, to be fair, the rough-in looks like a robust part and the total shower system is not expensive (about $1300) compared to other shower systems out there. But service should have been better.

I usually get my fixtures from the wholesaler as we have an account there and get a great discount. Amazon was still about 20% less expensive. I try and support the local businesses but it's tough when there is such a big discount on top. I highly recommend this trim. Yes it's all metal except for the one temperature control lever but it's been fine so far. Install straightforward.Note that 3 settings means you can only have two fixtures in the shower that water will exit from. For us it was a rainfall shower head and a hand wand. You can choose which head gets to be position number 1 and the other, number 3. Setting number 2 is a combined setting having water coming out of both.

Very well made, and heavy! Easy installation. (uses Delta R22000 rough in ) Industry standard, so parts such as cartridges readily available from local plumb shops.Shipped quickly by Amazon.

It's a lovely look but was a bit deceived by the description. I need to have separate access to 3 ports, unshared. This diverted only uses 2 of the three ports. I'm so confused! I'm going to return it , I guess, and check for a different one.
