Excellent quality and makes coffee taste fresher !
Excellent quality and it makes coffee taste different, better and fresher, because it doesn’t over heat the beans. So I found you can reheat the cup of coffee in the microwave multiple if you want, without changing the taste. It looks nice and a very sturdy build.Should last forever, as the grinders conical blades are sturdy but also replaceable.Shouldn’t need replacing for a very long time.I bought their best $250 model for versatility .It can be dialed in or out 0-10 to grind very fine for expresso or large grinds or anywhere in between.I use 5 for a regular drip coffee machine.Their cheaper models should be fine for regular coffee. To make a 14 cup carafe I just fill it up works good. Then grind it for about 30+ turns. It’s built ergonomically for ease of use.Hold it close to your chest or stomach for leverage.Sit down if you prefer.Switching hands a couple times, as it is harder to hold on to the body versus the swing out handle that your opposite hand is cranking it.But no big deal.If camping or the power goes out, you’ll still have coffee !

A very impressive big well made hand grinder
Like this one, my third hand grinder. Like the magnetic cup, the exterior grind number setting scale, the size of the magnetic cup (will hold 40 grams, usually do 34 grams for two big cups.....the top of the grinder only holds about 28 grams at one time), & the folding handle. It took me 3 different You tube videos before I could properly Calibrate the number scale for grinding, but I eventually got. Use a setting of #9 for fairly Coarse Pour Over Hario Switch V60 coffee making. A Consistent grind in daily use. Heavy, sturdy construction....and its bigger than it looks on line. Impressive

Is it better than cheaper hand grinders?
This is my second grinder to replace my cheap grinder, the HEIHOX, which uses common burr found in many grinders like Timemore C2. The quality and ease of setting the grind level is the best as mentioned by other reviews so will focus my review on taste and if it's worth the upgrade.I have done tests between the two grinders using Aeropress and the results led me to conclude it all comes down to what you like. The cheap grinder gives sweeter and fuller body but less clarity, meaning no separation of various taste notes. K-Max tend to produce lighter body but more clarity because you can taste all the various flavors such as fruity and floral notes in fresh Ethiopian. If you like Ethiopian, then K-Max is great. I like having both grinders to be able to change things up but I enjoy both. Some have said it's easy to clean and calibrate. I'm very technical person and I can tell you it's not that simple. You need to read and follow directions precisely. I ended up locking it and had to send it to 1zpresso to unlock it. At first they weren't going to cover the cost but did so after I showed them that following their instructions caused it. They agreed and they updated their instructions since after they asked me to review it. I have to say they did a great job supporting their product and they're very friendly to work with, which you won't get with cheap grinders. Is the K-Max worth it? Definitely! Its smooth and fast operation is the best so grinding experience is more enjoyable. It's preferred for high end coffees because it is able to better extract flavor nuances from the beans while giving pleasant grinding experience.

Whether you’re grinding for espresso or pour-over, the stainless steel conical burr delivers a consistent grind every time. It’s clear that a lot of care went into the build quality. The grinder feels durable and solid, and the overall grinding experience is smooth and easy, even when handling tougher beans. visually consistent grind, easy to use & maintain, fits in Aeropress XL for travel
Well designed for ease of use. No problem disassembling for cleaning. Visually the grind appears consistent though I did not do a particle size analysis. Grinding felt easy at all settings I've tried so far (5.5-8.5). I am using it while traveling and have found it fits perfectly inside the plunger of an Aeropress XL. Yes, it will weigh a bit more than some travel-oriented grinders, but if you're going to be bringing coffee gear with you anyway the weight differential is probably insignificant. Magnetic catch cup works perfectly. Operation is of course almost silent compared to any motorized grinder. It is expensive but it delivers consistency. It feels robust and precise.
