I have a downdraft range exhaust system (see photos) next to my kitchen range which does a decent job removing cooking orders and grease but definitely has its limitations. This is especially true when using a splatter guard. The guard prevents the downdraft exhaust system effectively catching smoke, grease and odors, but with the Range Hood’s base extension the splatter guard is no longer is an impediment to odors, grease and smoke being removed. I have used the AirHood Wired Range Hood twice this past week and am very pleased with its performance. A good purchase; the AirHood is now a permanent part of my kitchen arsenal.Update: Still giving the AirHood Wired Range Hood 5 stars. I went back and looked at the most negative reviews, and some valid observations. The Range Hood is noisy as I expected it would be, especially given the substantial carbon and steel mesh filters. Even used along with my downdraft exhaust fan, odors escape (open floor plan in my home). Noise level too high to carry on a conversation with someone else in the kitchen, but then I am a solo cook - no one else allowed in the kitchen when I am cooking.

Tried to use since i do not have exhaust fan. I was hopeful. Well, i was disappointed. the only way it had a half decent draw was without filters. which for me made it useless. The idea was nice but it seems lacking in all aspects. don't try to cook steak unless this is right over the top of the pan. Placing right next to pan on counter as cooking only captured a tiny bit of smoke.

What a great find! Takes up so much less space than the fan we were using, and no need to prop a door open in freezing temperatures! The noise is noticeable but not terrible, and so worth it for the amount of smoke and odor it takes from the air.

I should have returned this the moment I saw it was made entirely of plastic. All the components are plastic.Plastic and cooking are a bad match. Within a month, the front plate and fan guard warped and melted.Further, the battery powered model doesn’t have a meter to show how much battery life is remaining.Good idea, poor execution. Anything that will be near stove top heat needs to be housed and made with metal parts. Battery powered devices need some kind of indicator to show how much power is left.

The video/ads for this unit make it seem more powerful than it really is - at least in my kitchen. It is moderately helpful in capturing smoke/steam from my range, but it is easily overwhelmed when I am doing high-temp sears on steaks/roast, and I end up opening the kitchen windows and french door anyway. I'd say this device has moderate utility.

Gives a cool touch to my kitchen and also helps make my home stay fresh, since I have an open kitchen. Fully recommend!

For the size, this is a great product. It works better than the built in hood that’s in my apartment and it’s definitely more attractive. It’s a little noisy, but that’s ok since it’s doing its job.
