Most fun instrument for de-stressing or for my kiddo!
I have been looking for something to add to my meditation and relaxation daily practice and thought it may be nice to add a tongue drum. I also wanted a tongue drum to introduce my kiddo to a musical instrument that I wouldn't mind listening to when he goes crazy with it.Needless to say that this tongue drum has fulfilled my vision and needs so far.For my relaxation time, I like to play these freestyle or intuitively. It emits a nice and soft sounds as I am clanging away. I also use it to take a social media or electronic break. It comes with a song book (with only two songs that I know. The rest I've never heard of) but there are plenty of other music on the internet that I can follow along and play away.As for my kiddo, he has been looking forward to playing with this after school or after his sports practice to get him to de-stress and get his creative juices flowing. He also has reduced his want for screen time because he looks forward to playing the tongue drum. The sound is pleasant and I wish I had this when my kid was younger. I probably would prefer this than toy xylophones. I think I would buy bigger and tougher drumsticks, though. This tongue drum does take a bit of a learning curve, as the sound emits better when being struck on the outer part of the drum rather than directly on top. This tongue drum also comes with a travel pouch and something to put on your fingers so you can tap on them to play. But my son and I prefer the drumsticks.I think this is a great introduction to music for your kids that won't drive you crazy. It is also a great tool to use to wind down from a busy day.

Really Nice
I got this tongue partially just to enjoy myself, and partially to use occasionally in the piano lessons I teach. I really like it. There are an octave and a half of notes, and all of them are in tune and ring well. The drawstring bag is handy to protect the drum and keep everything together. The songs you can play are somewhat limited since there are no flats or sharps, but there are plenty of things you can play with it. It's great for my piano students for figuring out melodies to children's or folk songs, improvising, playing one of their piano pieces (or at least the melody) on a different instrument, and more.

Good vibes in an interesting package.
The drum's construction feels very solid. The rubber feet provide plenty of friction without forbidding sliding, however pushing on the side where there is one of the three feet is enough to make it tip rather than slide. The metal cutting is very clean, and the dark, textured finish is attractive and feels interesting to touch. This unit offers "the white keys", and in my testing the tuning was within 5c in all cases.G4, +4c; A4, +3c; B4, +2cC5, -1½c; D5, -4c; E5, -3cF5, -2½cG5, +1c; A5, +2c; B5, -5cC6, +1cAlthough part of me would like to try the omitted sharps and flats, striking B+C or E+F produces a clear enough dissonant beat that we may be well off avoiding semitone intervals. The functional parts of the instrument are all numbered by numeric interval relative to C. The numbers used have small dots added to indicate the low and high octave, but the dots are not very easy to see. The numbers themselves are metal foil that is self adhesive, but are also covered by a square of tape. I began removing it because some were over the cuts of the metal and I thought they were cling film to protect the numbers' finish. However, this often caused the number to lift and once bent it was not interested in laying flat again. Ultimately I removed them all rather than have some damaged and others intact. Two strips of number stickers, white on black and black on white on each sheet, may be applied, but they did not adhere well to the surface and like to stay straight rather than follow the curve of the metal. I applied them to the mostly-flat sides of the instrument.Striking the keys properly with the provided mallets can produce delightfully clear tones. For lower tones, the recommendation of the manual, to aim for the upper area of the key, works well. For higher tones, I found striking lower on the key to more reliably produce a clean tone. The highest tones I find some difficulty getting volume and clarity to match the lower tones. The center-most key is the lowest and has a different shape, and timbre, than the others; lower in volume and much messier. I believe that it doesn't vibrate very well and transfers much of the energy to the body of the drum. It also gives me less volume when struck in a way that either of the next two tones would give a loud, clear voice. Therefore, while G4-C6 are offered, A4-A5 are easier to play consistently. In addition to the two hammers, the kit provided an accessory that attaches to one's fingers. I found the finger tip strikers to produce very muted and somewhat indistinct tones. The pitches that are difficult to play with the mallets were not musical when I tried the finger tip accessory. If you need to minimize volume to avoid disturbing others that's a way to play but I didn't find that style useful or enjoyable.Although I can imagine places for improvement, used within its limitations this instrument offers a lot, and makes me curious about how it compares to the much larger design.

Fun tongue drum!
This review is for the 6 Inches 11 Notes, C tuning version of this tongue drum. This is a fun instrument, provided the mallets are used. I wasn't able to get a recognizable sound using the finger 'picks'.The kit came with the drum, a drawstring bag, 2 mallets, two sizes of finger 'picks', a description card, a tune book, and what I think might be a stand? The original descriptions said that tuning was plus or minus 5 cents (a cent being a hundredth of a semitone). I found the tuning to be dead on except for the high B which was +5 cents (within the described tuning) and the 5 Low G, which was +15. It didn't sound obviously out of tune to my ears.I'm having a lot of fun with this instrument, and I think it's definitely worth the listed price (I believe it was $19.99 at the time of ordering).

長く響く澄んだやわらかい音。小さいので打ちにくい
The media could not be loaded.
