Get one or two sizes larger than normal if you have a belly at all.
Bib overalls are designed for people who don't get wider above their waist, so you gotta take that into consideration when ordering the proper size.If you are a trim, fit guy then order your normal size, but if you are like me and have a few miles on you that have stored up a bit in your belly, then you'll have to adjust accordingly.I am 5'11" and about 240#. Yeah. I could stand to lose a few, but I used to be 285# so I'm working on it. But I do still have a bit of a belly. I normally wear a size 38 in jeans, but since I don't like them tight, I sometimes get a size 40. I tried the Dickies in 40x32, thinking that bibs SHOULD be a bit big all around, but couldn't come close to fastening the side buttons. I thought about sizing up the dickies and trying again, but they were very baggy in the legs and hips. I can't imagine what Dickies thinks a man looks like. It's as if they were designed by aliens who heard about humans and then made some overalls based on what they heard. So I bought these Carhartts in the gravel color, also in 40x32 just to see what the difference was. I was immediately impressed with the difference in quality. The legs and hips fit PERFECT, but the side buttons were still a little tight. I was able to easily button them, but I don't like being hugged all day across my belly. While standing and walking they were fine, but when I sat down at my desk, I had to unbutton the sides in order to be comfortable. I am returning them and I already ordered a 42x32 that should arrive in two days.At first I was turned off by the price of the Carhartt when compared to the Dickies, but after getting my hands on a pair, I am very impressed with the quality, fit and design. I LOVE the pocket on the right leg that perfectly fits my phone very securely.I'm going to buy one pair that fit me now (probably 42x32), and when I lose another 15 or 20 pounds I'll easily fit into the 40x32 Bibs. By that time I'll be in a size 36 jeans, so keep in mind that the bibs need to be just about two sizes bigger than what you normally wear in jeans.I'll update this when I know more.Update:The 42x32 came in today and they fit perfect. I can say now with conviction that you should ignore Amazon and Carhartt and get one or two sizes bigger than your normal size if you have anything more than a flat stomach. If you have a flat stomach then sure, buy your normal size.Another update:I've lost about six pounds since then and the 42x32 still fit great. Once I'm down another ten to fifteen, I'll go to my local Carhartt store and try the buy the 40x32.

Really comfortable fabric right out of the box, excellent cut and construction.
I've been wearing Dickies overalls for years but the bib never really fit right (straps frequently slid off my shoulders) and the canvas suddenly got a lot lighter so I compared them to the Hisea and the Carhartt's. First off, the canvas on the Hisea's is really heavy and stiff. If you're doing really rough work, this might be a good thing, but I wear overalls all day, every day, and for me, the fabric just wasn't that comfortable. The cut of the Hisea's is kind of boxy and it suffers from the same wide bib as the Dickie's. I don't know how broad your chest would have to be to fill out the bib but I'm a fairly big guy (6'1", 215lbs) and it just kind of floats. Third, the straps are narrower than the Dickie's or the Carhartts. They might cut into your shoulders at the end of a long day. And finally, the clips feel like cheap stamped parts. They might stand up just fine, but I'm not keeping them long enough to find out. After comparing all three brands, the Carhartts were my favorite. The canvas feels great and the cut is just more detailed than the other two. Lots of different pieces, darts all over the place, re-enforced cuffs - it just fits well. The Carhartts are more expensive than the Dickies and twice as expensive as the Hisea, but for me, it's worth it.

Size is exact in my experience
I read some of the reviews and they say get a size up or size down but the overalls come with a tag that says “get your pant size” I got 30x30 cause of the reviews and it fit snug will definitely out grow them soon because I’m a body builder I usually wear 32x30 and I know for a fact those would’ve fit me even better. So just get your pant size I’d recommend but definitely comfortable AF! The shoulder straps are strong and the quality is top notch thick but not hot when worn stretchy and mobile. I work underground electrical construction and they can take it like cake. Definitely recommend love carhartt

QUALITY
Before buying I was kind of skeptical of quality because of some of the negative reviews I’ve read. I gave it a shot and if for some reason I didn’t like it; I would just return it.Thats not the case though. Mine came in perfect condition. No flaws at all in stitching or fit. I’m 5’11 and I ordered 34x32 Gravel. The quality is very good and its really comfortable. No restrictions in movement. I ordered a size up like suggested and it fits great! I’m very satisfied 😊

Husband loves them.
He wears them every weekend to work around the house in. He says they are very well made! He wants more. The only thing he could say if he had to was the clasps ate a bit loud and he wishes there were some loops for a utility belt and whatnot.

Durable and comfy
Bought these for my husband working in the shop and he loves them. They are durable but he can bend and move in them freely. Has tons of pockets so he doesn’t have to wear a tool belt doing smaller projects too. I did read to size up one or two sizes and definitely agree with this! My husband sized up one size and it fits perfect.

QA Issues
First off I love Carhartt, great durable clothing. The reason I'm knocking the overall rating down is because of a quality control issue. The right hand pocket was riveted to the inside of the cover all. Which made it impossible to put your hand inside. I had to cut the pocket around the rivet and sew up the holes.

Light Weight
So far so good.....No zips at the bottom of the legs for boots. Not mandatory but sure is a convenient feature.Material is lighter weight and soft. Will see if it can withstand the mans punishment. They don't get 5 stars because the stitching at the sides are already coming un-done!!!!! We went to the store to find some and couldn't find the size we needed. But saw the same stitching failure in multiple pairs!!!!! Where has the quality gone guys???? For the price Carhartt charges you should at least get some use out of them before they start falling apart.Would recommend getting the next size up IF wearing over pants. If not get your regular size.

I love it
I work in this 40 hours plus a day. Really comfy. I wish it was cheaper but you get what you pay for. I do sometime wish they would make them without pockets. Mine always end up full of sawdust.
