Poor quality coating.
I have the same knobs in stainless steel but wanted the same in black. Thought I would try painting them but on seeing these thought the black coating might be more durable than painting my own.When these arrived one knob was scuffed in one area but more importantly the knobs had a coating of paint that was already peeling off.It was plain to see the metal had not been keyed or primered, no paint will adhere to unprepared polished stainless steel without correct preperation.
