Pregnancy Rock-Climbing Harness!
It was hard to find this specific harness when searching for a rock-climbing harness to use during pregnancy, so I hope this review will increase the odds of your finding it! Pregnant rock climbing! Pregnant woman harness! Maternity climbing harness!I had been told by a gal that works at my rock climbing gym that the best pregnancy harness is made by Petzl, and that the petzl maternity harness is significantly more comfortable compared to other brands/models (I think she was referring to mountain mama).I ordered a size 2 based on the Q & A info above, and though it fits, there is a LOT of extra strap, so I wish I had gone with size 1 (I'm 5'7, normally 140# dress size 8 pants size 6-7, now 165# and 5 months pregnant with weight gain concentrated in the belly).Upon trying this on, I was a bit skeptical that it would be comfortable enough for an indoor top-roping session, but went ahead and gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that it was perfectly comfortable for climbing, being lowered, and belaying my 170# hubby on top rope. It slips on and off easily as it has no double back buckle to tighten or remove (this is weird at first but you get used to it quickly). The rope, or caribeener, goes through both loops at chest level. Look at the image and make sure you don't tighten the shoulder straps too tight, it should not be squashed against your chest but have some breathing room. I left enough room that I could slip 1-2 fingers between in the leg straps and my legs as well. I'd recommend wearing what I did: tight shorts and a 3/4 arm or long-sleeve t-shirt under this to avoid pinching (I had NO pinching). Honestly, the worst part about this is walking around in it as the leg straps rode up into my crotch.Happy climbing! Anthony's wife =)

No Mountain Mama - but much better than the lack of padding would lead you to believe.
I purchased this harness for my wife in the summer of 2015, and am amused that the more recent reviews seem to have purchased it for the same reason - pregnant, and unable to get their hands on a Mountain Mama pregnancy harness (I don't know the production status of that harness, but my purchase came about a week before a trip to France involving rock climbing, and the Mama had a 30+ day lead time). My wife is about 5'6" and this harness fit her just fine. She was just entering her second trimester and had held off on rock climbing up to this point, but definitely need a harness that directed pressure away from her belly. She was comfortable enough (for an harness with zero padding) both belaying me and while being lowered. There are a few minor items to keep in mind while using this harness:* There are two independent tie-in points, meaning there is a chance (though extremely unlikely) that a single carabiner may be triaxially loaded.* The bigger concern with this harness' tie-in points, however, stems from the fact that they're raised much higher than with a traditional harness (a little below armpit level), which can easily allow for long hair to get pulled into a belay device (which quickly leads to a "Very Bad Day" for all involved).* There are only two gear loops, limiting rack space (not that she felt much like leading at the time). All in all, a solid harness for use during pregnancy (or needs to have climbing forces directed away from the midsection) and any other time the climber/belayer must remain upright. I'm also a firm believer that any climbing is better than no climbing.

Lets you keep climbing as your pregnant belly gets bigger
This harness is substantially less comfortable than my normal harness but lets me keep climbing so it gets 4 stars from me. Picture is me at 23 weeks. I use this harness for top roping only, tied in with a figure 8 directly through the two gray tie in loops. The gear loops aren't too much in the way. I was not able to figure out a good way to belay because adding a carabiner to the two gray loops with a belay device caused the biner to sit sideways and be crossloaded, and when I tried two carabiners the effect was similar and the belay device was twisted. To get around this I switched back to my normal harness to lead belay, which at full extension still fit comfortably under my belly and didn't put any pressure on it. Appreciate that the buckles have the red DANGER marking if they're routed incorrectly as they're a different style than you see most of the time nowadays.

Comfortable and made me feel safe
I bought this harness so I could keep climbing comfortably during pregnancy. I’m 5’3” and about 125 pre pregnancy and the smaller size still gave me plenty of room to grow. It was comfortable and adjustable. I was able to take some lead falls that felt safe and controlled. Petzl is amazing, so happy with this buy.

pregnancy tips
I am not sure any harness would be comfortable during pregnancy. wearing a sling with this is uncomfortable too, since there is little ability to place gear on the harness. Buttttt perhaps us climbing mama's shouldn't really be cleaning gear too. great for in the gym, get a big pear biner and i typically use a grigri (pregnant women are known to faint easily, so just in case). Also please please mama bears, remember to stay extra extra hydrated... especially if climbing outside. Altitude dehydrates you and pregnancy majorly dehydrates you and add exercise... recipe for disaster. I'm 27 weeks and still climbing in and outdoors and high elevations... so thank you petzl for making that possible.

It has been great. Pretty comfortable
I bought this for my pregnancy and was a little nervous as it is a"men's" harness. It has been great. Pretty comfortable, convenient to use and the best part is so easy to slip on and off. The only thing I didn't like is it does ride up on the crotch but I am use to it now and it no longer bothers me. I'm actually going to miss this post baby.

Good pregnancy climbing harness
I bought this harness to be able to keep rock climbing during my pregnancy. I'm really petite (5'2'' 110lb) so I was worried that it would be too big but I was able to tighten it enough, although I had to figure out how to secure all the extra bits of straps.

quality ful body harness
Needed a harness to climb with while pregnant. This does the job with acceptable comfort and valuable peace of mind for safety.

Tres bien !

Should be marketed as maternity harness as its been perfect for my rock climbing pregnant wife
My wife is quite pregnant but still climbing like a beast. I do all the leading these days to ensure she'll always have a rope above her and never take a big fall. The harness fits beautifully around her bump (about 5 months at the moment). She's used this harness from 2 months and will continue up to Christmas, around 6 months. She's determined to stay strong and love the weight training aspect of pregnancy. Despite a complete lack of padding she claims that this harness is more comfortable than her conventional black diamond harness.Perhaps a little lacking in gear loops, just two under the arms, but as she isn't leading this hasn't been a big issue.I'd highly recommend a specific large crab for joining the two central loops to the rope or belay device to prevent 3 point loading.
