Nice and Hot, but manageable...
We've had this mattress for a few months, since September. We chose this mattress after much research and decided on it for the price, the ventilation feature and the other reviews. We have slept on a waterbed for the most part of 30 years, with few breaks at different times. We decided to change because one of us has a back issue now and we were hoping it would help by giving more support. So, after all these 4 months we do like the mattress. It does give more support, is easier to get in and out of than our waterbed was, and we were able to put the mattress on our waterbed platform enabling us to maintain the height of the bed and use of our under-bed storage drawers. The down side, it's HOT! During our research, we found a lot of people reviewed the memory foam mattresses as being hot. We purchased this particular mattress because it has the ventilated foam layer which is suppose to solve the heat problem. During the summer, it was very hot and uncomfortable at first. I think we kind of adjusted to it eventually. Now that it's winter, it is a little better. I found a cooling mat at Walgreen's, that's suppose to keep you cool. It helps a little but I was only able to find one in the large size, the other two are small pillow size. These I see all the time at Walgreen's but I have never found another larger sized one. One night I had the opportunity to sleep in the bed alone. As usual where I was laying was hot. I happened to roll over and stretched my arm out across the other side of the bed and it was stone cold. It was like inside a refrigerator on that side to the point it woke me up. Since it has been winter, we have been able to keep our heat lower at night and once we lie in the bed a little while it heats up and is comfortable, until you get up in the cold room that is. We find that it takes on the temperature of whatever is on it's surface or the room. It's kind of strange but we seem to be adapting to it. It's still not unusual for us to wake up in the morning soaking wet, but we seem to sleep through it. I do have a clip fan on the head board and occasional am awakened at night overheated and have to turn the fan on. You can't exactly lay out from under the covers because the room is cold, so I have to at least have the sheet over me. The other occupant is comfortable sleeping uncovered for a while when they get overheated. I'm not sure why, but we both say that we do like the mattress. It is comfortable to lay on and we do get a pretty decent nights' sleep. It didn't help the back issue, but it didn't hurt either. Oh, it never expanded to the full 12 inches, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue.Update Feb. 26: We removed the cooling mat and our comforter. We replaced the comforter with a quilt. That made all the difference in the world. I very seldom wake up overheated now. The mattress is very comfortable and we both enjoy sleeping on it. Seems the comforter and the cooling mat was holding in the heat.Update Sept. 2017: Well it's been five years. We still like this mattress. I wake up some mornings and just kind of lay there thinking how incredibly comfortable my bed is. A couple of years ago the other user was spending long periods of time lying or sitting on the edge in the same spot. We started feeling like it had compressed there and didn't return to the original form. It was uncomfortable so we contacted Lucid to claim against the warranty. They made us jump thru hoops taking pictures from different angles with a ruler, then denied the claim saying it did not qualify. So much for another company standing by their product and promise. We ended up folding a quilt under that spot to level it so it wouldn't be uncomfortable and stopped spending so much time in that position. The next time we rotated it, the area was no longer compressed and we haven't had the problem again. So, we sleep so well on this mattress we purchased a 10 inch for our motor coach a month ago and used it about three weeks. Again it was hot sometimes but we adjusted the room temperature and slept fine. The only problem is I was certain I ordered the queen rv/short but that's not what was delivered. We got the regular queen and didn't notice until we had it on the bed. When I checked my order it was the regular queen, so, it's too long and we have a hard time walking around the bed. It doesn't bother me so much but the other user is larger and wants to correct the issue so we're actually considering purchasing the queen rv/short and using this one in the spare room. It's still up for debate but it looks like I'm losing because it was my mistake. It's either that or cut it off and I'm adamantly opposed to that idea. I mean, who does that. Cut off a brand new mattress because it's made of foam. :( That's not going to happen.

a properly researched purchase
A little background about me: I'm a techie, recently moved to USA, i lived in Europe and Asia before. Stayed in a hotel for couple of days initially, moved to a new home and had to set it up ASAP. I boringly spent my free evening times for the last 2 weeks researching on mattresses. After having researched a lot about different mattress types (spring Vs memory-foam Vs coir Vs gel-infused memory foam Vs latex), i finally decided to go for Memory Foam mattress because of two main reasons1) distribution of pressure across a larger surface area of the back, which is good for the back, this property i guess is unique to memory foam mattress2) durability, this one comes with 25 years warranty !!!However, i happened to read that memory-foam mattress retains heat (may be good for people living in cold regions) which is not desirable for me. To mitigate the heat retention1) there seems to be variants of memory-foam which can "breath" by letting air flow into the mattress, i wasn't sure how effective this could be, mattress of this type are priced less2) Gel infused memory foam: this type has gel infused in the top layer of the memory foam, without getting into too many details here, i'm convinced this could effective than 1), obviously the price is little more.3) combination of 1), 2)Having decided on 3), the next task was searching for a brand, there are many brands with different prices, i decided on 12" LUCID-LinenSpa Gel-Memory foam mattress, it seemed to be a price-quality optimized product, when i bought this item there were only 42 reviews as against 300+ reviews for other mattress types, but i was confident on my research, well popular choice need not be the best ;-).To summarize following four points from the mattress description is what made me decide the item- Exclusive Lucid-Gel formula memory foam is infused with gel beads to capture and distribute heat- Removable silver-infused cover is naturally antimicrobial and hypoallergenic- Pin-core technology increases airflow throughout the sleep layer and helps regulate sleeping temperature- 25-Year warranty; Open cell construction yields a longer lasting, more resilient foam that will not leave long-lasting body impressionsI paid $449 (excluding tax and shipping charges), in the rest of the review i would just mention important points, i already spent 40mins to write the above, would wrap it up quickly- Got this item delivered on time- nicely packed. It took about 10 mins to unpack.- first impression: Awesome, also the mattress cover looks great- there was an odor, not intense, it faded out in couple of hours- i slept on the mattress, it wasn't too hard or soft, just perfect cushion. the pressure on my back seems to be distributed (memory-foam effect), did i feel like sleeping over clouds !!! ;)May be i would write another review after couple of months.PS: Hey BTW, if my review has helped you (either in buying or not buying this product), please feel free to click on the "was this review helpful link" at the end of this review, motivates to write more reviews in future.04/04/2017 - Update after using it for 4yrs and 2months.---Some regions have become more saggy than others, its a different experience depending on which part of the mattress u sleep. Just avoiding sleeping on this mattress for over 2 months now.

Terrible durability and useless warranty, stay away.
I have had this for nearly four years now and it is now a terrible mattress. You will see many glowing reviews of it from people like me who loved it when they got it. It was the most comfortable mattress I've ever owned. However within a year it starts to break down where you sleep. Coming around to the fourth year I am frequently in pain as a result of this mattress, both back and neck. The 25-year warranty is absolutely useless and insulting to customers as it states there must be a specific amount of sag. Guess what foam does when it breaks down? It continues to fill the same volume of space but can no longer hold the same amount of weight. This results, even though I rotated the mattress regularly, in very soft areas where I sleep and hard areas around me. Somehow this is not a problem according to the company.Stay away if you want a product that lasts and a warranty that is honest and useful.

good short term mattress - DOESNT have a 25 year warranty.
I've had this mattress for just under three years. It was comfy as heck when I first got it but very quickly started to sag. At this point, my girlfriend and I are waking up in a sag in the center every morning and are now shopping for a new mattress.I tried to make a claim on the warranty and they sought out every possible reason not to accept it. Very misleading with their claims of a "25 year" warranty.

Just Dont Bother Buying
bought the 6 inch firm which was somewhat okay, still to plush for my books and i was able to feel the base board when i slept on my side. I contacted Lucid for advice as to which mattress to buy and that im looking for a firm mattress; they said the 6 was for kids, and that adults should be buying at least 10 inches of mattress. so i went ahead an bought the 12 inch and boy what a disappointment. i read the questions and reviews and everyone here is saying " the mattress is still supportive", the Titanic provided more support, and it sank slower too! I woke up in a pretzel. When you sit at the edge of the bed you sink a half foot. ive been looking at their other mattresses and it seems they only get from plush (lucids version of firm) to drowning. id say just go to IKEA for this. now i have to figure out how to return this giant brick of fluff :(

The warranty is a lie to those outside the U.S
I've had this mattress since 2013 and when I first got it the thing was the most comfortable bed I'd ever had. That lasted only about 2 years though as since then a giant sag has formed in the center of the mattress making it quite hard on the back to sleep on. Not to mention if you have two people in the bed the dip will just make you both roll into each other which isn't nearly as great as it might sound. So when I went to make a claim on that "25 year warranty" that I bought off amazon.CA, they told me that the warranty is only available to those within the continental United States. So basically a flat out lie to anyone not living in the U.S which is enough for me to never buy from them again personally. Long and the short about this mattress though? It's great at first and surely will keep being great for those that can actually make a warranty claim, but if you do not live in the U.S then find another mattress to buy. This thing won't stay as comfy as it was when you first bought it for more than a couple years, so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Item arrived in good condition. Required ventilating in an isolated room for 2 days to remove the smell of solvent from the manufacturing process, after that there was no smell whatsoever. Mattress is still comfortable after 3 years of use. The gel and memory foam mean that the mattress conforms to you body shape when you get in. In addition, one person can get in or out of bed without disturbing the other. My wife is more picky about mattresses than I am and she loves it. Purchased in mid 2014 for approximately $500. The low cost was a significant factor in the decision to purchase a mattress online without trying it first. At the time of this review (mid 2017) the list price is $2400. The only quality issue is that the fabric on the top of the mattress has worn somewhat but we use a mattress protector so it doesn't really matter to us. Overall a great product.
