A great help for getting consistent and attractive bread.
I'm new to bread making, and I prefer bread made without a tin. I had a look on the internet, and these Banneton baskets looked like just what I needed to keep the bread in shape before it goes in the oven.I've got the 23x14x8cm one, and it's just right for a loaf that uses 500gm of flour. I've used it with different types of flour, and it produces a really nice shape of loaf.I bake my bread on a pizza stone in the oven, so I have learned to put the loaf in the basket upside down for the final prove. That way I can carefully place it on the stone and turn the loaf out like a sandcastle, with the minimum of disturbance to the dough. My basket came with a linen liner, which is really good. The dough doesn't stick to the liner and it makes it really easy to turn the dough out. You are not supposed to wash the liner - just brush it and let it dry naturally. There is something very satisfying about making bread the way my grandma did, using a basket with a clean tea towel over it. Unfortunately we don't have an old valve TV set to keep it warm while it proves. I do have a valve guitar amp though. I wonder if Heavy Metal music helps bread rise...

Good product, but too small.
The size is a bit too small

Too Many Overhangs.
I was disappointed with this banneton. The rattan cane doesn't sit carefully enough ne over the other as it builds. This means the dough catches under the canes that don't sit level and is difficult to turn out of the banneton without distortion. Some of the staples used in construction are also a little bit proud. Some people use the supplied fabric liner inside the banneton which does prevent sticking but I like to see the ribbed pattern on the loaf. I've floured the banneton copiously, tried it several times, but I cannot get it to release cleanly.

Good value for money
Smaller than I thought but nevertheless a useful size for a small loaf. Leaves a nice pattern on the sides

Disappointed ...............
I chose this round banneton like everyonelse does from the posted photo. It was a middle of the road price so I thought the quality would be ok. I was disappointed. The lining is ok, but I won't be using the basket. The rattan is fraying as though it had been well used so if I was to use the basket without the lining I may end up with splinters in my bread. Maybe I should have sent it back, but during Lockdown using our local Post Office was problematic so I kept it. I am using it but only with the lining inside. I will buy another one, but it will be from a shop where I can handle it and examine it.

Good item!
I wanted a small banneton for those occasions when I want to make a small sourdough loaf. The only small issue was the lining was a generous size and I now know to free it up from the edges as soon the dough goes in to proof. I managed to free it up pre bake without losing too much volume.

Very effective - good for sourdough
I'd never heard of 'proofing baskets', but I wanted to try making sourdough, and the recipe recommended their use. I'm glad I bought these - they seem to work well for raising the bread prior to baking. I turn the bread straight out from these baskets (in turn) into a dutch oven for baking, and the resultant bread is really nice. Just make sure you rub a *lot* of flour into the linen before putting the dough in to rise (to avoid it sticking). The linen liners can be easily removed for washing afterwards. The underlying baskets seem sturdy and well made. Very happy - these do exactly what you'd expect.
