Noise Cancellation King: My SteelSeries Alias Experience
I hate headphones, so I have always preferred a mic. The noise cancellation is impressive. I typically listen to music at about 70 dB, and the mic hears me clearly. The software thoroughly filters out the music and ambient noise to the point that I hear nothing but my own voice. The build quality is sleek and modern, with just enough RGB to not be excessive. It is pretty much plug and play to set it up, so it is very easy to set up and use, plug in, and the software download is simple. I would say the mic itself isn't going to print out a symphony, but to normal ears like mine, it's better than enough to get the job done for a gamer. Overall, I got it for a discount of $150, which I think is a good price for it. Normal pricing seems worth it too, if you consider the extraordinary software that is free to download, you technically don't even need the hardware to use the software.

Love this mic
I love this mic it has great sound quality and was very easy to set up. I use it anytime I play the game now and all my friends say I sound a lot better using this than when I used a headset with a mic.

Good intermediate microphone
This is great when using the steel series app. I was able to tune this to my liking with relative ease.

– Amazing Mic, Let Down by the Software
The Alias Pro microphone itself is fantastic — crystal clear audio, great build quality, and well worth the price if you're serious about sound. It easily competes with other high-end mics and has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. That said, the SteelSeries GG software is a different story. It's bloated and intrusive. The "Sonar" feature keeps hijacking my default audio output every time I restart my PC, even after disabling it. It feels like I'm fighting the software just to use my own setup. To make things worse, the "Moments" feature seems to keep recording clips in the background, even when I’ve turned it off. There's no easy way to fully disable or rebind the default hotkeys, which is just bad design.Compared to Logitech's Blue mic software, which is lightweight and stays out of the way, SteelSeries GG feels overly aggressive. I wish the software was more modular and user-friendly — it drags down what is otherwise an incredible microphone. If you’re okay dealing with some frustrating software or are willing to spend time managing workarounds, this mic is a powerhouse. Just be aware that out of the box, it comes with software that might not respect your settings.

Best Gaming Desk Mic:
Steel Series has done it again. I bought this to pair with my gamebuds and the quality and ease of use are top tier. Best desk microphone I've ever used. It's crystal clear when I speak and using the Steel Series Sonar app is a must for it. I love the big red "X" that appears on the microphone letting me know I'm muted.

Expensive Mic, Short Lifespan - Major Disappointment
bought the SteelSeries Alias USB Mic on August 7, 2024, for a hefty $179.00. It completely died on March 20, 2025 – less than eight months later! No lights, my computer doesn't even know it exists anymore. For that kind of money, I expected it to last way longer. The fact that SteelSeries basically washes their hands of you after 30 days on such an expensive product is really frustrating.

So good wish I got the pro one.
Really like it just wish I ordered the pro version I don’t really use the headphone jack on the back definitely would have been worth the money. Will probably end up getting getting it
