Sorry I purchased this product
There are many things I like about the program. It cherrypicked many of the good features offered by Pinnical and premier elements. This unfortunately is overshadowed by things I don't like. As like every other video software company, their program offers many many features which most of its users will probably never need or use. The most important feature of any program is of course , that it should be able to do the basic tasks without a problem. This is where my complaints begin. I cannot even use the program due to the video freezing at each split point during editing. The computer I use far exceeds the requirements of the software and it is dedicated only to video. I have updated the software for Powerdirector and video card and have made setting changes as suggested by Cyberlink. So far the problem has not been corrected, so for now my video production is on hold using Powerdirestor 12.Dont spend your money purchasing the telephone support. You get to speak to someone from, I'm guessing, India (with no disrespect to them) who appear to have little actual knowledge about the product and are there only to take down your inquiry. You might as well save your money and make your inquiries on line as almost all of the so-called telephone support involves comunication via email. I don't know what other surprizes I have in store with this program , as I haven't got past the editing stage. In the mean time I will go back to using Premier Elements 10.

Beware: Can only install on ONE computer unless purchase additional copies!
I purchased CyberLink PowerDirector 12 Ultimate Suite because I am getting ready for a significant computer upgrade and I want to be able to edit AVCHD Video. PowerDirector 12 has very good reviews and seems to be what I need for the job. However, one thing they DO NOT MENTION on the box is that this software CAN ONLY BE USED ON ONE COMPUTER! Not one computer at a time – one computer PERIOD! Unlike most software, you can NOT install a copy on your desktop computer and also on your laptop for when you are traveling. Most software either allows you to install on both as long as you never use both at the same time, OR has a function that allows you to activate your license on only one at a time (for example, Home Designer Professional). CyberLink requires you to purchase a separate license for each and every computer you use it on. For me, that is particularly bad. I plan to do most of my editing on my main home computer, but I travel and would like to do basic editing on the road on my laptop. AND, what really makes me furious is that I could find NO MENTION of this on the box before buying it. I actually had to email customer support to get the bad news – and even then I was required to sign up for a CyberLink Web Account (free, but now they have my email, etc.!) before I could even read the response from customer support!! This does NOT bode well. Note that I have not installed this software yet (do not have new computer yet) so I can not give any opinion on the quality of the software or if it is worth the hassle. I give this only two stars based only on the cheapness of their license policy.

Software seems safe, in terms of getting what you order.
Never got around to installing it, but Cyberlink products are pretty good as far as I recollect.

A nice package that needs to be used as one of the tools for producing videos, not the only one.
Buggy at times, some features don't make sense (like if I want to replace a video with the same name it won't allow and ask me if I want to replace it, therefore I have 'videoName1,' 'videoName2,' 'videoName3,' etc. However, for the price, with patience and inventiveness you can produce very good results. It also has very nice features, like opacity manipulation, keyframe manipulation, slow speed, fast speed, reverse video and many others. This 'ultimate suite' came with Color Director (nice), Audio Director (better than Nero, but not always friendly) and Wave Director (similar to Audio Director). When I purchased this package, there were some alternatives in the 50 to 150 dollar range and some in the 500 and above, so PD12 was almost in a unique price range. You may find other alternatives to compare now.January 2018: Clunky often, but if you learn to manage and have other alternatives it has plenty of positives. My most useful one: Production: The many formats video can be produced.

Pros and Cons
I'll start with the cons. With all the software, it's huge! It's about 5 GB according to my laptop, oh speaking of which, it tried to MURDER my laptop! Since the day I got it, my laptop would overheat and shut off after normal everyday use after only half an hour. It would never do that before I installed it. I never noticed that it started the same day I got the laptop. I already had installed Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 (the best and cheapest editing software you can get!) My laptop is a high-performance HP Pavilion g7, not some cheap everyday use laptop, so I know it's not the laptop's fault. So finally I was looking to buy a new laptop, thinking this one bit the dust, but I've only had it 8 months! So I remembered back to when the problem started THE SAME DAY I INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE!!! I figured I might as well uninstall the software just to see if that would do anything....and now it's fine! The pros: It renders videos extremely quickly, and it really is HD. I never got to try any cool features though, because the laptop would overheat almost immediately after trying to edit anything!
