Serenity (4K Ultra-HD+BD) [Blu-ray] [2017]

This is a review of the UHD blu-ray version of Serenity with HDR-10 and DTS-X MA audio.This is a significant improvement on the blu-ray edition and the audio in particular is greatly improved, There's a noticeable resolution increase (although this isn't a native 4K release) and the addition of HDR is really effective. There are many high contrast scenes (passign intense light over faces in space etc) and the HDR massively improves the look. The audio is amazing if you can handle it. It can be seriously full on and will swamp a low end surround system but if you can cope it's really something.

Ok, it is not a patch on the original, but it is nowhere near as bad as other reviewers have made out. The director does explain (almost apologetically) why he had to make some of the major plot differences for a US audience (basically because they are stupid). If you haven't seen the original and don't like watching foreign films then give this a go, the ending is still a killer even if it has been softened somewhat.

This film is very different to anything else I've seen, really great acting and a fantastic story, would highly recommend

Great acting from the entire cast-plenty of twists and turns. No spoilers but the ending is really good. Watch it and savour the god acting and watch the film in one sitting and you wlll most certainly not be disappointed.

Why o why did the studios pull Firefly when it was clearly the successor to Star Wars. Just like Han Solo the ship's captain wears a pistol in a gun-belt. Weaponising people works in this case. Good SF

Whedon closes the storyline effectively and it is a great movie but the fact that some of the characters storylines are a bit hazy just adds to the fact that the TV series should never have been cancelled
