The Forward Book of Poetry 2024 Paperback – October 5, 2023

Poetry does not grow old but in this collection it has grown wild! The preface and introductions to this exciting anthology provide context and direction for the uninitiated readers like myself and even for the aficionados. Explanation is not outmoded but ‘word perfect’ is and I expect this will be the route and endgame for AI. Without a ‘voice’ its creations will wither on the vine. ‘Curious and alive’ is a canny descriptor for many of the new poems in this book. Exciting to read, sometimes misunderstood, often daring and uncomfortable, they challenge the breadth and depth of our humanity. The joy of poetry is that we can hum, smile and cry as we turn the pages.

Great variety of poetic styles. A good survey to what was happening over the year. A great way to find new poets.

I read this every year. It is usually excellent. This year is very poor. I cant believe that the future of poetry is represented here. Awful .
