Just a phenomenal book
If you own a business or run an organization buy this book. The ideas in this book are simple but the impact is profound. I think it is the best book to introduce someone to Toyota Kata. The other books from Rother are great and make a great follow up to this book. But the fact that this book is based in a story and you can see how these kata can actually transform your business and organization. I am a big fan and will continue to practice the kata in my business.

What does kata coaching look like? Feel like? This business novel makes it real and relatable.
What does kata coaching look like? Feel like? This business novel makes it real and relatable.Story-telling let's us experience a different reality, up close. In Giving Wings to Her Team, the factory is under pressure and managers and priorities are shifting quickly, Do the new people really understand how we work together? Should Denise, the main character stay and try to turn things around, or quit and move on to somewhere better?I am a kata coach and learner, and I know this business novel fills a big gap. It's "A Novel about Learning to Coach the Toyota Kata Way" and for much of the novel, Denise is learning to be a kata coach. She discovers how to trust the pattern, and some tips along the way. For a kata geek like me it is a fun read. Before I reviewed this latest Toyota Kata book, I wanted to hear from the kata curious - business folks and lean leaders who are outside the kata community. Does it help them? Now, a few months after publication I can say, "YES!" Reading the book is emboldening new kata coaches to invite their bosses to observe, just like Denise does. The clever addition of extra material and external links through QR codes is helping people find support and community. Readers get it. "OH, that's what this about."As Denise finds out in the novel, it is tough to learn on your own. Giving Wings to Her Team not only tells the story of one kata coach and her team in tough times, it is also is an outreach to all of us to trust, to try and support each other as we learn together.
