When I've worked with gold leaf in the past, they've always been large approx. 6x6 sheets, I thought they were something that's a fairly standard size. Ordered these because the price was so much better than locally- Now I see why! It's less than half the amount of leaf! The leaf itself looks to be good quality but bummed about the size, will need to purchase much more for my project.Update: I initially gave this item 2 stars for the reasons above. The seller took the time to message me to let me know that these sheets are the standard size for genuine gold and that it sounds like what I've been using is imitation gold leaf due to the size. He was right! where I've been purchasing locally has been selling me imitation as genuine - so frustrating! I appreciate that he took the time to educate me, otherwise I would have gone on buying imitation for an inflated price. He also shipped me a book of imitation leaf for free which was so generous and allowed me to finish my project. Will purchase from this seller again!

This is great for hand grinding into shell gold. It breaks up nicely and practically melts into whatever mucilage you decide to use. If you are interested in making shell gold for illumination or tezhip this is an excellent quality gold sheet to use. Do not try to use the cheap ones from Thailand chances are they will not be real gold and you will waste your time trying to hand grind them. It's enough to make about 1 small pot of pigment.

Been in sign business 45 years. Never had 23k gold tarnish before. Going back to Italian or German leaf.

Nice quality, beautiful gold! Unfortunately it is very hard to work with. I work with my hands for a living and am used to working with delicate things. The loose sheets prove very difficult to work with.

I spent a lot of time carving this wooden nickle. This was my first attempt at gilding. I am very happy with the results. It does require patience.

The patent separation sheet makes my applying the Gold Leaf a lot more fun than the normal sheets. I’m applying in a sign letter that has Chanels.
