Chios Mastic Gum - Small Tears - Resin Masticha - Pistacia Lentiscus (75g)

I get acid reflux. I find chewing gum is a non-invasive, drug free way of managing the symptoms to some extent. However, I worry about swallowing too much plastic from regular gum.I was pleasantly surprised at how gum-like this stuff is. It’s firmer than regular gum and a little more abrasive than regular gum so a little more care is needed but for the potential health advantages I think I’ll stick with it. Apparently there is some evidence that there are medicinal benefits to chewing mastiha so that’s good. We will see.It’s probably a bit more expensive than regular gum but I’ve noticed that I don’t need many tears to get a gum-sized piece to chew on so I think the hundred grams should last. I might even experiment with flavouring it with a sweetener and perhaps a drop of orange or peppermint essential oil. The pine-like flavour it has is not unpleasant.

Great gum. I’ve been chewing or dropping a few tears into my red wine with a clove or two and it’s delicious in the wine once you let it stand for 30 minutes. Chewing it is not very pleasant at first but the taste goes away and my breath is fresh. I also notice it settles my tummy and doesn’t feel as bloated.

This mastic gum is contained in a tightly sealed foil packet. The pieces vary in size medium to small, lots of them. The colour as it should be - pale, creamy white. Have no complaints about the quality of this gum, but, as with other gums I have tried, I always get a headache after chewing, this being one of the side effects I believe. I don't think you could get a better quality than this, it is easy to grind into a powder if you so wish. Delivery was quick (3 days coming from Greece).However, having praised the quality of this gum, I don't think I shall be using any more because of the bad headaches mastic gum gives me.

Dispatched from Greece and I had to pay £20 on delivery. So even though the stuff is OK, the total cost is ridiculous.

Regular chewing gum is a single use plastic and doesn't biodegrade so I was searching for a natural biodegradable alternative as I am an avid gum chewer. And I am happy to say I have found just the alternative I was looking for. This mastic gum has a pleasant pine aroma and flavour, it removes plaque from the teeth better than standard gum and I can chew knowing I'm not putting more single use plastic out into the world. I'll be buying a big bag next time as this stuff is going to be my go to chew from now on.

I did not find this resin particularly fragrant. Pity, as Mastic gum usually produces a gentle yet lingering fragrance that impregnates rooms for days with one burn.

The gum has an unexpected flavour the first time you try it, it's almost earthy but in a tree bark kind of way bahaha. If you're not a fan of that taste then don't worry since it goes away pretty quickly. I for one have grown fond of that taste. The texture starts crunchy then soft and finally hardens. Classic mastic.

Angenehmer leichter Geschmack nach Pistacia Harz. Die erste Minute im Mund etwas hart aber mit der Körperwärme wird es kaubar. Es ist nicht so weich wie normale Kaugummis und zersetzt sich nicht.

Ich benutze es als Ersatz für die (Plastik!) Beißschiene. Es funktioniert super, da eine gewisse Härte immer bestehen bleibt und sich über die Nacht nicht auflöst. Am nächsten Morgen - kein Mundgeruch, immernoch ganz glatte Zähne. Vor dem zu Bett gehen mittels kauen eine Schiene formen, mit den Fingern leicht auf Ober- oder Unterkiefer drücken, zusätzlich Zähne zusammenpressen, so dass alles gleichmäßig verteilt ist. Der Überschuß formt sich durch die Wärme automatisch um die Zähne. Seitdem: keine Symthome mehr durchs Knirschen. Und ich liebe diesen Geschmack (für mich, wie ein Hauch von Nelken). Schade, dass er nicht intensiver schmeckt.
