Exactly the same battery as it came with from Sony
The batteries included in this kit are exactly what you want for the Sony WF1000XM4 earbuds. Mine were dying after about 2 years of heavy use. Just a few months ago they still went for over 2 hours, and then suddenly one of the earbuds lasted only 25 minutes. I did my research and found this kit to replace the batteries. Online video shows in detail how to do this. You really need a heat gun and some sort of clamp to do the job, plus, I found the included tweezers and the razor blade in this kit are of marginal utility for the job. I used the tweezers to flip a little cable lock up, but everything else I did with metal tweezers (search Amazon - lots of great tools for electronics repair are available. You will use them again and again). To open the earbuds, you remove the foam tips, hold the buds in tweezers or a clamp, and heat them up gently with a blow dryer or heat gun. You only need a little heat to get the glue plyable. Test it frequently while heating to get the feel for the temps, because you don't want to damage the audio driver.I used a clamp to press on the case and once the glue got soft, it started to split apart. Then you can use the included razor blade, or just a plastic tool meant for case separating to pry it open. Once open, you need to open a small cable latch, for which I used the included tweezers. The cable then needs to be pulled out, but for that I needed a different tool. The plastic tweezers just had no gripping power there.Once that cable came off, you pry apart a pair of circuit boards, again using a plastic tool, not a razor blade. Then the glue holding the lower circuit board to the battery needs a little warmup before you peel it away. You want the glue to stay on the board to put it back on the new battery. The old battery is then pried out of the case with a pointy tool. A bit of glue and the magnets below were holding mine in place but it wasn't difficult to lever it out.The batteries are IDENTICAL to those included in this kit. ZeniPower Z55H 3.85V. That alone is worth the price of admission here. All other batteries I saw during a search are unbranded or cost the same as this entire kit.Insert new battery, writing pointing up, press circuit board back on so that the glue holds it there, press connectors back together, insert the tiny ribbon cable as deep as you can get it, then flip the tiny lock lever down. Now grab the included glue, which is perfect for this job (and worth another $10 compared to buying it separately). But before you glue, put the still open buds into the charging case and remove them to test if they still work. Mine fired right up, both channels, so I proceeded with the glue job. A few drops, smeared along the small edgen then press together and keep it in a clamp overnight. On the next day remove the excess glue with a scraper tool. You are now good to go a couple of more years before these incredible headphones will need another battery transplant.Up next for me is a battery transplant in the charging case. I am sure it is getting close to end of life as well.Get a magnifying glass if your eyesight isn't great. This battery swap job is not for people who have zero DIY experience, but it isn't difficult if you can deal with tiny and fragile things.

A great item
I was most disappointed when my $300 earbuds failed on me.These batteries and ear cushions have given the WF-1000XM4 a new lease of life.

Saved my $250 Sony WF-1000XM4 Earbuds
I am reviewing the item after installing it.These saved my $250 Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds. Mine are about two years old but were not used frequently. My headphones worked but died in about 10 minutes from a full charge. You could watch the battery life drop. I had already replaced these with another cheaper brand. I saw this kit and figured I had nothing to lose.Installation isnt too hard if you have a little know-how. I watched a few videos on YouTube. Some said to use a heat gun - I found this ineffective. I found one where a clamp was used. This worked perfectly. I used a c-clamp to apply a little pressure along the seam and the larger side popped open easily. Using my thumbnail I was able to gently pull the halves apart. I followed the video I found and it was exactly as described.I gently disconnected the ribbon cables, peeled the glue off the old batteries and installed the new ones reusing the old glue (Its a gummy black material). I reconnected the cables and tested after a short charge. Everything worked perfectly. I applied a small amount of glue in random spots and put the halves together. I tested and they worked fine. I gave the batteries good charging overnight and allowed the glue to dry.I had looked at batteries on Amazon. These were reasonably priced and the kit does contain all you need after having done this task. The kit also included some new foam tips. Honestly I didnt expect much but gave them a try. They have a covering and I felt they improved the sound quality (I defintiely got more isolation from AND and bass due to the better seal). If your batteries are dying fast, you have nothing to lose with this kit.I think as long as they do last, this is an excellent kit and I would recommend it to others as the price is as good or beter than just buying the batteries alone!

Fantastic Replacement
This is the second replacement battery I have gotten for a different set of Sony XM4s and they have worked beautifully. Installing them is not the easiest thing, but it is also not very difficult and it is absolutely worth it because it significantly extends the lifespan of my earbuds. After testing, I can usually get between 7.5 and8 hours on a single charge. Highly recommended.

It was alright
Both batteries charged, one battery drained really fast. It barely lasted a single gym workout. Also the tools included in the kit didn’t really help other than the glue. The tweezers are far too flimsy to remove the ribbon cables from its slots. Invest into something a few dollars more, it’s worth your time.

It's alive!
For those of you who are looking to replace your (most likely aging) Sony WF-1000XM4 batteries, then this is a good option. It helped me bring new life back into my earbuds. The installation process was a bit tedious (which is the fault of Sony, not this battery), but once I got them in they worked just fine. It helped me get the same battery life as when I had first got them. The included tools are much appreciated, especially the glue. The ear tips are OK. Nothing special just some run-of-the-mill silicone ear tips. If your old tips are deteriorating as well, then this will be a nice inclusion. They're just nothing special.Overall, great package for breathing new life into your Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds.
