Horrible Guild: Potion Explosion, The Fifth Ingredient, Expansion, Strategy Board Game, Requires Potion Explosion Core to Play, For 2 to 4 Players, 30-45 Minute Play Time, For Ages 14 and up

We discovered this game via the iOS version and discovered we loved it, this is a board game version of those match 3/4 type games played with marbles.You take a coloured marble from the track and if the falling marbles touch another marble of it's colour then they explode and you take those marbles out of the track, this continues until two marbles of different colours touch.You then take your marbles which become ingredients in a potion, once you place all your ingredients in the potion you get a fancy power and place the marbles back in the dispenser ready for the next player.It's a great family game, that's easy to pick up and will support up to 4 players but works great with 2,3 or 4.The components are ok the marbles feel a little light and sometimes taking a marble can cause others to bunch up, the dispenser is ok and should last a couple of years if the kids are rough handlers.If you are unsure about this as a tabletop version try out the the app it's a great version of this that I think plays better, with nice swishy effects and automated score tracking and only a few quid. It's our go to game if we are out of the house.

Played the game at Games Expo and loved it. It's great for younger players and also just adults. The only thing that can be annoying is because each person takes their turn seperately then can take a long time deciding what they want to do which is boring for other players. Not good for people with a short attention span. Some friends have also commented that it's a bit long so we make the game a bit shorter now so we can get a few more rounds in and keep it interesting.

Love, love, love this game! We mostly play as 2 player but it can play up to 5 I think. It’s simple but fun and a great balance between looking after your own game and having a bit of competition - plus if you like a tactile game then the marbles element will appeal! It’s becime a firm favourite in our house 🎲

After a tricky 10 minutes building the marble dispenser, this game as been nothing but fun. Played 2, 3, and 4 players. Amongst all audiences - with my wife, and with friends, with the children - it has been fantastically popular. I especially like that you can assist other players by suggesting what they might do - really helpful with younger players. Highly recommended.

Some balls are damaged

This is a very fun, easy to understand game which involves completing potions using coloured marbles (and hopefully explosions!) with a variety of other tricks to defeat your opponents! Upon its arrival, we immediately played two 2-person games and though very enjoyable, we both agreed it would be even better with 2+ players. A definite recommendation from us!
