The back of the clock is made from black ABS plastic so it will never rust or dent like metal. The body houses a 22 watt fluorescent circuline bulb with an on/off switch in the cord. The clock is a battery operated quartz movement that runs from one AA battery (not included). This clock is awesome when lit!
