Functions more like a Paramilitary 2 than a Native
Perfect knife for those looking for features of a PM2 in a more concealable and less intimidating package. It will replace my Dragonfly 2 in the role of stealth EDC that fits in a change pocket. The Lil Native has better steel than the VG10 DF2, and a safer lock that keeps your fingers out of the blade path when closing. The Lil Native is vastly more flickable, it has no sharp edges in the thumb hole, has much better ergonomics, and is much more robust and useable than the DF2. In short, the DF2 feels like a toy in comparison. Granted, the Lil Native is heavier and more expensive. Some reviewers complain of the lack of jimping on the blade, and the way the choil can hit your finger in the lock when closing. Neither of these issues are of any significance to me. The G10 scales are just as grippy as those on my PM2, and the ergos are excellent on the Lil Native, making jimping unnecessary. Furthermore, the blade shape and lack of jimping give it a much less tactical look that is less likely to raise eyebrows in public. It is a stylish gentleman's knife. Yes, the choil can hit your finger in the lock, causing the blade to not close fully. However, if you do grip the lock in a way to avoid this and flick it closed, the blade often bounces off the blade stop and remains even more open than if the choil had hit your finger. Overall, I find the choil issue to be completely overblown. The blade movement was a little stiff at first and the blade wouldn't drop shut under its own weight. Many compression lock knives are like this when new. One drop of oil and a very slight loosening of the main pivot made it as flickable and drop shutty as my well tuned PM2. The action is very smooth with zero blade play. Love it.18 Month Update: I've carried it 5 days a week on averag as my office EDC, and love it more than ever. I removed the clip and carry it loose in my front pocket along with a minimalist wallet. Very discreet with no exposed clip to scratch against my car, furniture, etc. The S30v steel is holding up well, and took a nice mirror edge with a Lansky sharpener. Easy to sharpen and touch up this blade with a leather strop. The thick blade stock and full liners make this knife laterally stiff and very functional for prying tasks. The Lil Native is so satisfying to flick, and the ergos are perfect for the middle finger Spydie flick. I've since picked up a BM Bugout and a Para 3 Lightweight, but neither are as discreet or easy to carry around the office.

Can't remember the last higher end knife I disliked this much
I really wanted to like this knife. I own several Spyderco, but I pretty much hate this one. The good is that it is a quality blade in nice s30v that is perfectly centered. Also it is made in their US plant. Now for the bad. The blade is super thick like you will need to use a 2.5 in. blade to chop down a tree. I have very small hands and even I find the handle too small to be comfortable. On top of that the only hold for this knife is choked way up but there's absolutely no jimping on the school or the spin. I can see myself sliding up onto the blade insanely easily. The texture of the g-10 is a complete pocket shredder, especially with a pocket clip so tight. I have not had problems with the wire pocket clips like that before. Too top that off the bored out g-10 on the side opposite the clip was bored out poorly and is very sharp around the clip hole. First Spyderco I own that I hate this much. I have cheap knives I like more than this. If you like this blade shape and general look try the Chapparal instead because it fixes most of the flaws I found with this one and you get cts-xhp steel.

My new favorite pocket knife.
I like a smaller pocket knife; dragonfly, Case small trapper, Case pen and tuxedo, I kept doing back to carrying my orange dragonfly. Even took the wire clip off. I liked it so much that Ive had a G-10 dragonfly on my wishlist. Was about to put it in the cart when I noticed the lil' native. The dragonfly's been hanging out at the gym and turned into the lil' native. Spyderco should of called it the bulldog or gave it some other cool name. Fatten up your dragonfly and you have the lil' native. You can't tell much difference in the size other that the lil' native is heavier. Its my new favorite pocket knife.

Bigger knife feel in a compact sized EDC that has lots of great features.
The Lil Native is a great little knife right out of the box. The blade has a nice stock thickness yet has a great slicing-edge due to the fantastic full flat grind behind the edge. The S30V has a satin finish that was beautifully done. This finish also aided in knocking off any sharp edges you might find around the spidey hole. Just an excellent finish on this blade. I like the shape of the blade as it's a scaled-down version of its bigger brother. I like Spydercos without the huge thumb ramp on the back of the blades, but that's just a personal preference. This is razor-sharp out of the box, and overall, just fit and finished nicely. The blade is perfectly centered in the handle and locks up solidly with no side to side or vertical play at all. It's action is a tiny bit stiff coming from the factory for flicking open, however, a disassembly, cleaning, and lube with the right pivot tuning will have this blade flying out no problem - it's not far from that right now after a few days of opening. It already drops nicely from full lock using the compression lock to a closed position. Great design for single-handed opening and closing. There are a couple jimps on the blade spine near the pivot, as well as jimping on the liners in that same area that catch your finger just enough to notice. This knife doesn't need more than that IMO.I love this compression lock! It's a superb feature on this little guy that's only usually in their larger knives. Awesome addition to this and is great for one handed closing without your fingers being in the path of a closing blade. Its a super slick action to close this knife and any knife person knows how much we like working the action on our knives. This one is cool!Ergonomics are great for being a sub-3 inch blade. The big choil aids in this, however, the grip on the handle fills the hand without having to choke up on the choil as well. Per usual, the super-grippy Spyderco G10 scales are top-notch and feel awesome...what we've come to expect in their scales. They help keep it light as does the skeletonized liner on one side. Thanks for that Spyderco. The wire clip is solid as well. Deep enough carry and placed closer to the end of the handle since they ditched the lanyard hole on this model. It's the same size clip installed on the larger knives so it feels great sliding into the pocket with ease, no snagging or hanging up. Nice tension on it as always.Overall, I think this is a near-perfect EDC for when a larger knife might raise some eyebrows around the workplace - which does happen with many people who just don't get knife-people. Being only a couple of ounces is a huge bonus as you forget it's even in your pocket - especially at this size, it's still a stout player in the game and can easily handle most all cutting tasks. An ounce per inch of blade is a good rule of thumb for being a lighter-than-most knife, and this falls just underneath that nicely. All in all, this is a perfect compromise in a broad blade yet light in weight, in strength and materials, in compact size while having a great knife steel in awesome USA made Spyderco craftsmanship. I highly recommend the Lil Native for anyone wanting a solid cutter, that rides easy in the pocket with a killer compression locking mechanism and solid ergonomics. I will follow up after a few months of breaking it in and cutting with it. I hope this review helps someone in their decision, you won't regret the knife purchase.

Compression Lock, S30V, Wire Clip, G10 Scales, 2.49” drop point
Perfect knife. It’s everything I wanted in a smaller knife. I really liked my Spyderco CAT but wished the steal was better. The lil native checks off all the boxes for me.
