Star Wars: Luke Skywalker's Amazing Story

The Force is with this one!
These DK Readers of any kind have been stellar for my 2 year old and are among his favorites. They are my favorite too because they are only $3.99 and don't take up much space, yet can be read many times. The special part of this story is that it tells basically the entire story of Star Wars in the most simple terms that my 2 year old can almost understand. He is fascinated by Star Wars (I wonder where he got that from) and the story telling of this work is excellent. If you think your child will be interested in the basic story of Star Wars or already likes Star Wars but is in the 2-3 year old range-this is a stellar book to read to them. As far as having your child read the book-I can't comment on that as my 2 year old does not read. Great story, great pictures and great price. HIGHLY recommended. Don't miss WATCH OUT FOR JABBA THE HUTT-another in this series.

Loved by my reluctant reader
My son is 7 and an average to below average reader. Most of his trouble is with guessing words by the first few letters instead of reading. I bought him a handful of these Star Wars DK readers because he loves Star Wars. He loves reading them. He can read this book fairly easily. He doesn't get frustrated because it's a book he really wants to read! He read them over and over. Part of me doesn't want him reading on just one topic, especially something that encourages him to want more toys and stuff, but I'd rather he read something that is interesting to him to build up his confidence. DK readers are my favorite reading series, they are very well done.

My Son enjoys it...I wish the formatting were different
I have to begin with the caveat that I'm reading this on the kindle app for an iPad mini, so my experience may differ from those using actual kindle devices. My son (6 yrs) loves these Star Wars early reader books, and this one did not disappoint him. The only problem I had is the fact that the file was only viewable in landscape mode with two pages on the screen at all times. It almost seems like the publisher (or whoever produced the kindle file) simply scanned each set of pages in the book and slapped them together in a pdf. Of course, my son is not paying attention to this formatting detail, so I think it's passable for kids and worth purchasing if you have a little Star Wars fan in your life.

Great!
We got a bunch of these books to read to our 4 year-old and he LOVES them! A bonus for us is that they're also fun and interesting to read. The series-1 books are the best for us, it takes maybe 3-5 minutes to read (depending on how long he wants to look and talk about the pictures) and we'll usually do this and another book each night. All the books are very good but when you get into the series-3 & 4's they get to be quite a bit longer to read. This one really tells a simple but fairly complete story of Luke, with the resource material coming from the movies.

great for getting my son interested in reading
My 4 y.o. son can read pretty well but always wanted us to read everything to him... until I bought a bunch of these Star Wars DK readers for him earlier this year. Now he sits on the sofa and wants to read his books. He even tries to read them to his baby sister. He's brought some of the books into school for show and tell and wanted to read them to his teacher. This series of books is great for any beginning reader who's a star wars fan!

For the little star wars fan in your house
I got this book for my little boy. It is great because I am not that into Star Wars so it helps explain the back story and because it is an easy reader he can help me read it. The pictures are from the movie so he can tell me all their names and if they are good guys or bad guys. I recommend it for any one with a small (5 year old) child that loves star wars and is learning to read

great for a reluctant reader
I bought 4 of these Star Wars books as a Christmas gift for a 5 year old boy who has been resisting learning to read. He is very stubborn and decided he didn't want anything to do with books. But when he opened these books, he sat right down and started looking through them. He had to be reminded that he had other gifts still to be opened. He kept coming back to these books, ignoring his other gifts. Now he requests that they be read to him, and he is trying to sound out simple words.

Great for the little Star Wars fan
Shortly before my oldest son turned five, he discovered Angry Birds Star Wars and started asking questions. Next thing I knew, we were watching all six episodes... repeatedly. For a kid who isn't a Jedi padawan and knows the lingo already, this might be a bit beyond level 1 reading. But if they've seen the movies (or played the Angry Birds versions), this is a great book to summarize the story of Luke.

Pre-school plot spoiler!
Despite the good overall arrangement of these DK Early Readers - I purchased for my 5 year old son who has yet to see any of the movies due to their content - I was hoping to read him a simpler version of 'A New Hope' - which was of course originally 'Star Wars - the adventures of Luke Skywalker' - but despite its (obviously) short content the author has seen fit to add a pointless spoiler (namely the BIG one from ESB!) before the end of this Level 1 book! Luckily I looked through the content before reading and now invested in a Star Wars storybook from 1978 instead. So buyers be aware this is okay if your early readers have seen the movies first.

Great books for an early reader
Great books for an early reader. I have these books to thank for my son now actually enjoying reading. He found reading really challenging so wouldn't try but these books have transformed him and he is happy to read much more widely now.

Amazingly Simple Story of Luke Skywalk
This book covers the complex history of Luke Skywalker in a simple but entertaining way. It covers a lot of ground for a short book. The text is clearly set out and the pictures are high quality stills from the Star Wars movies.

Really good book for Star Wars fans learning to read
Really well illustrated, great quality not too much writing. My son loved having this read to him and could start to read it himself. Really recommend as it's a struggle to find things to inspire boys to read!

finally a book my 5 year old wants to read
The absolute best book for phonic-stage learners who have even the smallest interest in star wars (and amazing for an obsessed year 1 boy). Finally reading for pleasure...
