These bird boxes are good value for the price and just right for smaller birds. They come with stained green roof lids, which are hinged but held down by a screw which can easily be undone for the purposes of cleaning inside each year.We added some woodstain on the outside to the rest of the boxes and drilled some holes in the bottom to allow drainage which took just a few minutes to do (but only because we're a bit over-detailed about such things). These can go up as they are if you don't want to do that though, so no problem at all.Communication with the seller was very good, as the first order of boxes got lost in Royal Mail's tracking system. After a quick message was sent explaining the situation, they replied quickly and were very helpful in sending us a second set of boxes at no extra cost, which was very kind of them (would you believe this is the 3rd item we've bought online from various sellers on here and elsewhere which has vanished somehow within the last month? So no 5 star review for Royal Mail or Hermes!).Great customer service, fantastic bird boxes and 5 stars for this excellent seller from us.

I loved the bird boxes. Thought them sturdy and well made and excellent value.Unfortunately they didn't come with the promised screws but we found some that fitted so both boxes are on the wall near the bird food tables.Please will some lovely little feathered friends love them enough to make their home so we can enjoy watching them from our kitchen whilst we are self isolating😊

They don’t have a slate roof, it’s wooden, and I had to bore holes in them, to hang them up.

These arrived quickly and for the price were well made. Some reviews complained about poorly fitting hinges/construction/damage but there were no problems with the ones received. The roofs were screwed down but were easily unscrewed to release them for cleaning out at the end of the season. A longish screwdriver is needed to reach through from the entrance hole to the screw hole in the back of the box for fixing; screws are not provided. We painted ours to match the house boarding and once dry and fixed on a north facing it didn't take long for blue tits to start investigating them as a potential nesting site. Time will tell whether they decide to build there this year.

Despite saying they had a slate roof in the blurb the bird boxes don’t…just wood painted a different colour! Only one of the boxes had a hole in the back to fix it it place. They were inexpensive but I was disappointed and I don’t think they will last very long. Only positive was they arrived ahead of schedule.
