Great for melting chocolate coatings
I used this little device for melting confection coatings this weekend. I was able to melt my candy coatings quickly and cleanup was easy enough with minimal waste due to the non-stick coating of the melting pot. This did speed up my candy making process and I do recommend it for that purpose.I would love to have additional melting containers to accommodate different color coatings.

Does a decent job melting chocolate and cheese.
Does a decent job keeping chocolate almost silky smooth. I bet would be great for cheese!

way too small
Way too small - this would be for one person only.

Best for Holiday Party
I used this for a holiday party for my chocolate covered strawberries. The chocolate stayed warm but didn't burn, it was hot but not scalding 10/10.

Does not heat up well.
Worked great the first time, but session #2, didn't work and then on my 3rd try of it, it barely got hot at all. All 3 were within 6 weeks of each other. It's cute, but not even hot enough to melt the chocolate.

The inside peels paint flakes
Mostly I like this fondue maker. (I didn't notice). I meant to say I DID NOTICE the bottom on the inside was peeling and unacceptable so I took steel wool and tried to get all of it off at one time so it wouldn't be an issue anymore. Secondly, the hottest it gets is 131° f and I believe it should go up to 1:40° f. I use a regular stove to heat the cheese initially and then put it in the fondue maker. The size is perfect. I just wish the company who makes this would consider a glass bowl instead of this metal bowl that flakes paint. I am trying to source a Pyrex type of bowl with identical dimensions and not easy to do. They from day 1 should have gone with a standard Pyrex type of glass bowl and then figured out how to curve the cradle that the glass bowl sits in. I at least hope these folks know which glass bowls are identical to there quickly peeling metal bowl and can post a suitable replacement bowl even if not for free.Jim

Doesn't melt chocolate well
I bought this to melt chocolate for dipping sweets for the holidays. The chocolate I'm using is specifically for melting and dipping, the kind that you don't have to temper first. I've used this chocolate successfully before with a double-boiler but thought this would be better than having to constantly check the temperature and put it back on the heat when it starts to cool too much. After washing and drying the insert I tested it by adding enough melting wafers to cover the bottom and setting it to melt, and waiting for ten minutes. It did soften the chocolate but not enough to lose its shape from gravity. I thought it might not be enough chocolate/surface area for proper heat transfer so I added more wafers until it was a little over half full and waited again. I checked it at ten and twenty minutes, then tried stirring it with a rubber spatula at thirty and waited some more. It melted the chocolate in direct contact with the insert pan but the stuff not directly touching firmed back up again rapidly. It might be hot enough to liquefy if you were constantly stirring for long enough, but I'm not sure of that. You can stir it up then kind of half-dip, half roll small items to coat them with chocolate but it's time consuming and the results aren't nice enough to gift to people. It's probably warm enough to melt butter, but not quickly. I'll be trying another option.
