This ratcheting crimp tool has longish handles that make crimping much easier. Its jaws support 4 sizes: 1.25, 2, 5.5, and 8 square mm wire sizes. They don’t line up all that well with American Wire Gauge wires, which run from 1.3 (16 AWG) to 2.1, 3.3, 5.3, and 8.4 (8 AWG), but they are close enough on several gauges.Getting the ratchet to release mid-stroke is possible, but not easy to figure out. It requires a small screwdriver to pry up the ratcheting pawl located in the handle where the plastic ends as shown in the photo. That’s very helpful while getting used to the tool.I used the tool to apply insulated terminals on the end of a 16 gauge wire, which was effective. It’s advertised for un-insulated terminals, but I didn’t find any locally. Including a few assorted sizes would be a big help.

Ordered this crimper to assist in building a solar setup at a friend's house. This crimper made quick work of the mc4s I was attaching to bare wire. This crimper worked exactly as expected.Overall, a perfect tool for mc4s

This type of crimper is superior to the old cheapo one's you get with those kits. The handle is nice and easy to grip and the little tooth like bumps in the crimp interface insure you get a good crimp on your connector.

I have mixed feelings about this crimper. Although it feels good in the hand and seems to be well built, I was disappointed with the experience of using it. It has a locking mechanism so that once you begin squeezing it, you cannot release the crimp until you have fully compressed the handles. Additionally, to fully open the crimper, the handles must extend quite far, so that 2 hands are required for use. The fact that I cannot use this crimper with one hand is a huge buzz-kill. The whole point of the crimper is to quickly and easily crimp wires with one hand.That being said, the two handed design allows you to apply more force to crimp larger wire terminals. If you plan on using this mostly for larger wire like 12-16 AWG, then the wide 2-handed design is probably an advantage. But if you intend to use this for smaller size crimps then you may want to opt for a one handed crimper.I used this to crimp Deutsch connectors which are quite small. Although the crimp style was not optimal for these small connectors, I was able to get a solid connection by double crimping the wire in opposing directions.

Overall, these things are awesome. Sturdy, solid, and reliable. They do require an extra bit of strength and some may need to employ two hands to get these to work as they should, but I found just a little extra effort allowed me to complete my task single-handedly. There is a caveat. If you change your mind mid-crimp, you'll likely be out of luck. The mechanism doesn't allow one to stop and readjust in the middle of the action. I could see where that could pose an inconvenience in certain circumstances, but in general, this is an excellent tool to keep on hand.

These are good enough to be in my regular use tool set without too much concern. I don't generally need anything that's overly heavy duty as I mostly play with DC wiring applications that are smaller gauge. These crimpers will easily take care of that range. I'm not sure they'd be useful with a lot of heavy duty crimping on lower gauge wiring or higher voltage applications, but if you're doing that regularly, you are probably an electrician with the right tools.Beyond that I don't have any major complaints, nor do I have anything overly impressive, just a solid hand tool for a DIY enthusiast.

I've always used the combo strippers/crimper style pliers. But recently I got some special purpose crimpers for some specific termals (MC4). That gave me an appreciation for this style of ratcheting crimper. So I was watching on vine for this style of crimper to show up in a regular terminal crimper.With the other style, I feel like I'm not sure if I'm under or over crimping, and occasoinally I'll cut a terminal by overcrimping. This is nice - difinitive consistent crimps.I don't know if crimper expert would be impressed, but I like them.

Hi, ich habe mir diese Crimpzange geholt um Rohrkabelschuhe an ein bestehendes bzw neues Erdungskabel für meinen Serverschrank zu crimpen. Leider habe ich nicht die richtige Combination aus Kabel und Schuh gehabt, daher nur ein Test mit einem Fake Kabel für AWG10 Rohrkabelschuhe.Zunächst etwas zur Box. Ich finde es wirklich gut das es eine Box gibt. Leider sind die Schaniere einfach nur ganz simpel biege Schaniere. Die werden irgendwann brechen. Aber geschenkt, die Box wird ja sicherlich nicht täglich benutzt.Kommen wir zum Inhalt. Es ist schön das ein sehr kurzes Datenblatt dabei ist. Ich als Laie hätte mir da aber etwas mehr gewünscht. So musste man halt mehr über das Internet recherchieren um das Werkzeug auch richtig zu benutzen.Kommen wir zur Crimpzange an sich. Die Verarbeitung ist ok bis gut. Also definitiv kein Billigschrott, sondern mit Gummierung usw. man kann denke ich damit auch längere Zeit am Stück arbeiten. Hierbei hilft auch die Mechanik die einen Hebel erzeugt und somit den Kraftaufwand deutlich reduziert. Was mir sehr gut gefallen hat war das es eine Ratschenfunktion gibt, also eine Zeangsceimpung. Man kann also nicht zu wenig zudrücken weil sich die Zange dann nicht mehr öffnen lässt. Das sehe ich als wirklichen Vorteil an, da man so an sich nicht unterpressen kann. Gerade als Laie habe ich davor Respekt und bin froh da weniger Fehler machen zu können.Ich hätte mir allerdings gewünscht das es eine Möglichkeit gibt die Zange aber auch wieder zu lösen. Braucht man sicherlich normal nicht, aber wenn man aus welchen Grund auch immer die Zange nicht ganz geschlossen bekommt hat man ein echtes Problem. Ich wüsste ehrlich gesagt nicht was ich dann machen soll!Was die Zange von einem Premium Produkt unterscheidet ist in meinen Augen noch die fehlende Justiermöglichkeit des Anpressdrucks. Das habe ich teilweise schon gesehen und halt es auch durchaus für sinnvoll wenn man in den gewerblichen/Insdustrieberiech geht. Ob man das jetzt als Privatmann braucht? Ich glaube eher nein, bin da aber eben auch Laie! Irgendwelche VDE bzw DIN Normen wie bei anderen Herstellern siehe ich da jetzt auch nicht vermarktet. Daher ordne ich das Werkzeug auch in den Hobbybereich ein.Was ich aber ziemlich cool fand und ich total positiv überrascht hat, waren die Prägung in dem Backen für sie jeweilige Größe. Dies ermöglicht eine Überprüfung/Revision der Crimpung. Das ist echt stark und erwarte ich eigentlich nur im professionellen Bereich. Jetzt kommt dann aber das kleine Aber. Das 5.5er Gesenk ist die Prägung zu niedrig bzw nur teilweise so das man das gar nicht lesen kann. Das ist echt schade.Daher alles in allem verdiente 4 Sterne. Ist für den Hobbybereich in meinen Augen dem Großteil der Baumarktware vorzuziehen. Ich bin ziemlich zufrieden und würde Sie wieder kaufen. Erfüllt einfach meinen Bedarf.
