Will the white cover unsightly ground-in dirt stains in unsealed wood?

Hardwax oils penetrate the wood and alter the color without hiding the grain. Hardwax oil does not provide a surface film that completely covers the wood grain like paint.

Should this be applied with a brush or cloth? And will it get tacky as it dries while I'm spredding it ( like polyurethane)?

The Hardwax oil will work on any raw wood surface. All wood needs to be sealed against moisture. To protect the floor finish, we recommend a polyurethane topcoat. However, we also recommend you contact a hardwood floor specialist/contractor regarding your specific project before applying.
