One of the best books I ve ever enjoyed
It wasn't that easy so don't be fooled by the title for dummies, NO you must really be smart to get the detialsinthat book. I ve red psychiatry as a physician but nothing like this wonderful enjoyable book. As every one knows psychiatry is not that quite enjoyable to read at least for me but this book I hardly recommend. Do you have children or work with them Don't hesitate just buy it!.

A well organized resource.
I have always liked having references. I guess it's the educator in me. When my children were young, I always had the latest edition of the PDR and many child development books. When I developed thyroid problems, I bought books explaining what I was dealing with. Child Psychology & Development for Dummies fills that need in me for reference material. I now have 4 grandchildren (one born just 15 hours ago!) and two more on the way. The oldest is 3 years 9 months. I decided I needed to up-date the books I have in my personal library. I have been impressed with the other Dummies books I have read/purchased.I like this book. I like the way it is organized. There is a Contents at a Glance followed by the Table of Contents, which is way more detailed. There is an appendix which has the developmental milestones, broken down into Learning (language and thinking), Moving, and Interacting (socially and emotionally). This is a quick way to see if your child is where they should be. This appendix is followed by a 14 page index. All of this will make it very easy to look up any specific thing you are interested in knowing more about. This book is not designed to be read cover to cover, although you certainly can. The authors want to give you the big picture of what makes kids tick, but they also take a look at what can go wrong and how to face it. There are icons designed to grab your attention scattered throughout the book in the margins. They are to point out things the authors think are important, actions you can take, warnings about potential problems, and technical stuff. This book is going to have a place of prominence in my library. I will refer to it whenever there is a question or concern about a child in my life. I will also use it to check and see if everything is going the way it should. If there are concerns, it won't be the only resource I turn to, but it will be one.
