eventually two batteries will be shipped to you. One with the quad and another separately. 2nd one came with the prop guards a few days later.

How much altitude / range ?

Check specs on DJI.com. I do not fly farther than I can see it. I have read accounts of in excess of 2000 feet altitude. If you exceed range and fly in GPS mode the aircraft will revert to "go home" mode and fly back to where it took off from and land. If you haven't bought yet consider the dji phantom vision II. It's awesom

can you operate the GoPro Camera Hero 123 from the ground, making adjustments on the camera while flying?

No it flys on 2.4 same as wifi from the gopro . You want to look for a 5.8 if you want to control the gopro . FC 40 , vision fly on 5.8 . This IMO is a better quad because if flys on 2.4 much stronger signal just add fpv to it and you can see what the cam sees then edit how you want .
