A must for anyone using a camera strap
This little device potentially saved me thousands of dollars by keeping my DSLR csmera and lens from falling to the ground when my sling-type camera strap attachment came loose while on a photo outing. By providing a redundant or secondary attachment point, it prevented the camera and lens from falling to the ground in all likelihood saving the lens and possibly the camera itself. The first tether I had came with the camera strap, but I purchased this one for straps that came without one. I have recommended it to fellow photographers that like the sling-type straps and all have been happy to had made the addition. For anyone using the sling straps, this is a must have addition; it costs next to nothing, the weight is negligible but it can save you thousands of dollars in equipment repairs or replacement.

Extra safety when on the go
I used them as safety straps for my camera strap and a safety strap when camera is mounted on my tripod and I am on the go.

Different Options for Carrying your DSLR
I used these straps to make a tether that I could put on my camera while doing some alpine climbing in the mountains. I added some tiny wire gate carabiners to the ends that way I could change the configuration on the fly to fit on my harness or backpack. The tiny keychain rings it comes with is great for adding different options. The only cons I found were that the buckles they come with don't hold the webbing in place super well. I solved this by double backing the webbing through the buckle and then wrapping some electrical tape around it to keep it from shifting. Not really necessary, but because I really needed that added security, it wasn't a big deal. Carbiners are okay quality wise for what they are used for but seem like they might get sloppy over time.

Very sturdy
This camera safety strap is exactly what I was looking for. I just purchased a new bridge camera and attached a nice camera strap. That strap did not have a safety strap with it and it became loose from the tripod mount within a few days. I purchased this safety strap and attached it to my sling strap and camera and now I don't have to worry again. It is extremely well made and sturdy.

Cheaply made
Bought for extra security while traveling. Strap was okay, but carabiner was pointless. It wouldn’t stayed tightened and kept coming undone. Threw it away before we made it home.

Purchased Mostly for the Carabiners
I have been using Black Rapid camera slings recently. They come with their own safety tethers, but they attach to the Black Rapid locking carabiner. I prefer a separate connection to the camera strap, plus using the locking carabiner lets me make the strap into a quick hand strap or connect it to other protection if I have the camera on a tripod or other mount.

Not stainless
The listing says it is Stainless. The clip is all aluminum. I assumed the locking collar was spring loaded, though they do say it is threaded, which it is. I don't care it was threaded, but this thread is crap. There is no stop on the collar at full open or close. The collar is very loose and will quickly unthread itself, making it useless and just an inconvenience.

Works but has some sharp edges
I do like the idea of a lockable carabiner on the safety strap. There are some sharp edges on the hinged part … the attachment pin and machined edges of the hinge itself that can leave a mark or scratch.
