Early days but its more than promising
Ok so after buying the swift and having issues with the eye relief I returned that and bought the Prowl instead .This has good eye relief and makes the difference between a soft image to a sharp image .So this is going to be a long term review and will be added to as time goes by .So in the box comes everything you need to start up inc a hard storage case that's a good quality item as is the charge lead and the head mount it also comes with a helmet mount for airport and a lens cover .Once unpacked charged and fitted the eye relief was set and provided a clear sharp image that git better as I played around with the settings, tmThe nightvwas clear with no moon and was dark .The unit works well with no IR illumination switched on which on a dark night was ok but with cloud cover it's pretty good this gets better with the IR illumination switched on and has settings from 1 to 5 and a 3x zoom it also has a back-light screen function that makes the image brighter to the eye .So taking the dog for a walk into the moors with no torch the unit worked well and enabled me to see the dog and surrounding area with ease and I can see this being useful for night observation of wildlife or shooting.I intend to use it for night fishing as I have lost some big carp at the net by them spooking when they see the head torch so this may be a worthwhile investment and I will add more info and video as the fishing season gets underway .The one issue I had was walking around it sometimes was a little uneven as the depth perception is lost but I have a feeling that two units may solve this and Nightfox sell a bar that enables two units to be mounted together although this would be an expensive setup to solve the dept perception issue so I'm undecided to fork out the extra as yet and I'll keep you updated on this .The aftersales from Nightfox is simply awsome and even answered emails on Christmas day I've never had that kind of service and it's a measure that company's should mark themselves by .All in all upto now its a good little unit that's well made well presented and packaged is easy to use and may well be able to help in landing more fish ,time will tell and I'll report more as its used so check back for more

Good gear for the price.
This is a good piece of kit for the asking price. The original field of view is somewhat limited so I have adapted the unit with a fish eye lens which produces a far wider field of view. The IR on this unit gives a fairly noticeable red glow, however this can be reduced by using an external source instead. Battery life is reduced because of the LCD screen, but is still good and usable. Overall, a nice unit on a budget.

My childhood dreams come true
NVG - Night Vision GogglesThis model of NVG is amazingly cheap for what it's capable of. It is one of the only head mounted NVG's that have a 1x zoom, making them usable on foot while traversing an area. They also have a zoom function, but I personally find it nauseating because I suffer from motion sickness. (The NVG in general use does not trigger my motion sickness, don't be put off if you suffer from motion sickness too) The battery life on this NVG is exceedingly long, It's never ran out for me while using it, and I charge it once every week, with fairly frequent use. This is a very cool device to show your friends, and by far the best choice for this price. It has 7 IR levels, the seventh being the most visible. Also has brightness settings, which for some reason can be combined with IR 2 on max brightness to make it look like it's on IR 7. Battery saving tip, I suppose. Now, for the downsides. The only downsides that I have found after a couple months of use is the screen fogging up, and worst of all, the part you put your eyes on is extremely uncomfortable. It's a quick fix though, all you need to do is get a knife and shape it to your face shape. Without doing that, it'll dig into your forehead and cause great discomfort, well it did for me at least. In conclusion, I am extremely happy with this NVG and I would happily buy it again.

Significant design fault.
I recently purchased the Nightfox Swift 2 night vision goggles and was very surprised and disappointed to find that the digital screen (viewfinder) has no dioptre adjustment. This virtually renders the goggles useless to anyone that has difficulties focusing on close objects. Nightfox have included a focus wheel but this is limited and will only allow the user to focus the screen to a point which is still out of focus however hard you try. This is where a dioptre adjustment is crucial. It allows for fine-tuning for different eyesight’s. I am sure I do not need to explain what a dioptre does as most people have probably come across one on any digital equipment that has a digital/ optical screen. For example: Digital cameras, binoculars the list could go on. It seems however that the Nightfox research and development team had not come across the dioptre concept as it is not included as a feature on their goggles. When I contacted Nightfox to bring this to their attention. Their answer was to return the goggles using Amazons 30 day returns policy. I wonder just how many returns of these goggles they’ve had.Oddly enough, the newly released Nightfox Prowl does include a dioptre adjustment. I wonder why that is?I do think that Nightfox should be obliged to highlight this problem in their description of the Swift 2 and I presume its predecessor the Swift. Instead of just relying on customers sending them back which is a waste of everyone’s time and effort. The sad thing about all this, is that the goggles themselves are actually very good. If you hold them away from your eyes, you see how clear the picture would be. But that defeats the purpose of why I bought them, to wear on my head as advertised. It is no good having goggles designed to wear against your face, when you have to hold them at a distance, and for the screen to light up your face. Not very incognito at all.
