This product is poorly designed. The handle is in three separate segments connected by weak plastic connectors, the handle broke while the rake was being used. The rake head itself is fine, but the pivot point makes it so the user must be directly over top to get a kind of good pull. Would not recommend this

I have big Bernese Mountain Dogs and thick carpets. The rake works pretty well if I put some downward pressure on it as I pull it across the rug. Unfortunately, since the aluminum it is made with is too thin, the pressure causes the threaded connector joints to tear/bend. I went to Home Depot and bought a dowel rod just a little smaller than the inside diameter of the supporting aluminum rods. I took the top handle piece with me to make sure it fit correctly. The rod is the total length of the rake minus a couple of inches. So far, that allows me to apply the downward pressure needed without bending or breaking the rod. It was around thee dollars for the rod. Easier than sending it back or getting a replacement ending with probably the same breaking tube issue. I hope this helps...

Didn't work on both of our area rugs, which may be more of the rug that the product. I also found the assembly to lack a little stability. For the price it isn't a bad option though. We only have area rugs currently, so I will be interested to see how it may work on carpet in the future.

I've tried this on several different rug types and lengths, and it really only works on longer piles. The pole is so flimsy that it bends while you push down to try to get the head to pick up more fur. I wouldn't recommend it.
