Learning Resources Gears! Gears! Gears! Machines in Motion

Bought this for my grandson for Christmas. He loves it. He played with it until they went home. As far as I know, it has not broken yet. I would definitely recommend this to people I know.

My kids love these sets. Had to get some more so they can make more creations. Occupies them for a long while :)

This made a perfect gift for a toddler. The parents were happy and the baby was happy. Overall would recommend.

I got this for my son (5 yrs) for Christmas and he loves it. Great STEM activities and just lots of fun. Even his 12 year old brother enjoyed making it. At least 45 minutes of play and peace for adults. It does not have a remote control and it is 100% up to the builder to put it together since that’s the point of the toy. Would buy again and wish I had a set for my classroom!

Gears! Gears! Gears!® Machines in Motion is a great toy/exercise for following instructions or being creative. I ordered this set for my 5 year old who loves legos, building and pretty much all vehicles and she is having a blast with it. I think it has about 116 pieces and it comes with an instruction booklet for how to build specific moving vehicles and equipment. My daughter loves to show that she can follow building directions so that was the first thing she wanted to do with the set. The instructions are all images, which is nice but they are a bit confusing/overwhelming for a 5 year old to follow; it's just too much on one page and could be done differently to make it easier for younger children to follow. This is a the only reason I gave the product 4 stars; it is otherwise, a great toy. Once she finished creating her first piece using the instructions and with some help from dad, she used the leftover pieces to make her own little imagined helicopters which she loves. The product is well made and comes with enough pieces that you can make some pretty cool things. The piece move easily and work with the other gears sets. I do wish that it would have come with more rubber bands, as they are inexpensive and I'm assuming they will start breaking eventually and we'll have to come up with replacements somehow. But for now, it's lots of fun and creativity in a box!

A good learning tool - use and learning will grow with the child.

I know the box says 5 yrs old and up, but it really needs to be rated for a bit older. Purchased for my almost 6 yr old & currently a adult is needed to build with the child. It is enjoyable & a great toy, so I’ll give a good rating, but it can’t go as low as the recommended age.

These little gears are fun to play with but some of the quality control is lacking. The package comes with two rubber bands. One of our was twisted before assembly and then glued together. This makes it impossible for it to turn as it falls off each time. Also, one piece has a blue hook at the end connected to a string so you can wind it up or down. The hook and string broke as well. As a parent, I hate when things break soon after you open them. However, my child likes to play with them and wants to keep them even though he was pretty frustrated with the problems. (He gives them 3.5 stars.)

My grandson was able to assemble 2 or 3 gears and get the idea immediately, but it will be some time before he is able to follow the instructions to make the suggested models. He likes the fully assembled models which is motivating. We felt the similar kit aimed at 4 year olds would be a bit limiting and not interest him for long. What is important is that he is happy to experiment which should give him an intuitive idea of the basic principles. Appears to be well made, but prologed frequent use might mean that it becomes hard for the pieces to hold together.

Realmente un sistema de engranajes fáciles de manejar para niños desde, tal vez, los 4 años. Son hora de diversión porque te permite hacer varias configuraciones. Lo único es que hay que advertirle a los niños que hay que cuidar las ligas y las piezas siempre bien guardadas, porque imagino que si se pierde o se rompe alguna, sería un poco dificil encontrar las ligas de ese tamaño, las piezas se ven resistentes, en general. Lo recomiendo totalmente

Ai miei bambini di 5 e 7 anni è piaciuto molto. Facile da montare, devono fare un po' di forza su alcuni pezzi ma ce la fanno. Robusto, buona qualità. Gli ingranaggi girano bene e la macchina costruita funziona e resiste bene, ed è di grande effetto.
