Does the job
I'm not a sharpening expert, pretty new to axes actually. I had one that was left over from the previous home owner, and it was pretty faded. Tried this one out. You gotta use some elbow grease but it's not too bad. The size of it is attractive because i have a very busy shed. So that's one sessions of sharpening a big faded axe head. It didn't chip or anything and seems to be like new still after 1 session.

Widely Used
This type and style of sharpening stone is widely used in the timber industry and other places. It is a size and shape that is easily carried into the field so blades can be maintained in a sharp condition. It has different grits on each side. I like this stone for it's portability and quality.

Must have for tools
This is one of those "must have" items for sharpening axes and tools. Works well for removing burs and whetstone sharpening axes, hatchets, and shears with water. I use a bench grinder and polishing wheel for final edge and polishing, if desired. Easy to throw in your bag for quick field use, too.

Nice stone. What I wanted.
Most all of these stones are the same, just different names, so bear that in mind when choosing one. I wish this came with a case of some sort, even just a plastic one. Keep in mind that this type of palm stone is for keeping a sharp axe sharp, not for sharpening an extremely dull axe or hatchet. You will need to go another rout for that. Another hint is these are an old design and were meant to be placed in the palm, hence the shape. You will see people holding them with their fingers and that is incorrect. Especially one like this that has beveled sides, there is not much for fingers to grasp. Use a glove if you want , put it in your palm and swirl it in circles. I am happy with my stone, just wish it had a case like others do.

just the thing
I bought it to clean up the nicks on my hatchet, but so far I've been honing pocket knives with it. The 600 grit is perfect for that. I'm pleased with it. Just need water to use it, no oil, so it's not expensive or messy to use. Good value.

Tool & knife Sharpener
This sharpener worked quite well when I used it to sharpen our chef and other kitchen knives.I have also been able to use this sharpener to sharpen the edges of my garden tools, including my pick-axe and shovels. This quality stove sharpener is sold at a great price.

Nice sharpening stone
This is a two-sided sharpening stone with the red 240 grit side and a white 600 grit side for smoothing it. Works great for my knives and hatches and axes. I am very happy with it, and it works just like it should if you follow the descriptions instructions for it. Hope to have many years of use out of it.
