I bought this after my mom had a fall and couldn't get up on her own. Fortunately she was only on the ground for 15 minutes before my dad came home. We got this in case she ever fell again earlier in the day. The device is small (the size of a nickel) and lightweight, attached easily to a necklace and was easy to set up. I tested it from a reasonably far distance from my mom's iPhone, and it worked as described. My dad, brother and I all received a text in less than a minute. In fact I even tried closing the app, and the Bluetooth connection still picked up the signal. As long as a Bluetooth device with the app is nearby, and that device is connected to the internet via WiFi or cellular, this will work. Great peace of mind for a lower price than Life alert and similar products!One drawback was that the text I received misstated the device's location by a few streets down and had a margin of error of only 10m which was way off. This isn't a problem for my mom who doesn't really go anywhere alone, but something other consumers may have to consider.

This item is totally undependable. I have purchased two for my Mom and they both failed before 6 months. Not good thinking she has safety backup when it is non functional. Dont waste your money.

Original 1 star review below. Updating because I emailed the manufacturer. Although there were no discussions on what could have been wrong, they indicated the battery is replaceable. They did send a replacement unit and apparently put a fresh battery in it to begin with, and it doesn't seem broken. Will give the app and system a try now and report back.Original Review:Where to begin. First, this thing is tiny. I thought it was a joke when I opened the box, I thought I had some sort of demo model. Its smaller than a nickel. Sounds convenient, right? Doesnt take up much room? Perhaps for my kids GI Joe collection. Here's the issue. Its too small. Regular sized human fingers have to open the clip case, then pry the back off the front to replace the battery - which you have to do as soon as you receive it as previous reviews show they're dead-on-arrival. Once you do, it breaks the case retention clips, so that it will never go back on again. Without tape. I could add layers of tape to make it larger. But the other problem is that mine, even with fresh batteries, activates ONCE then goes dark. I have to open it again and reseat the battery to work a second time. I was hopeful this was an ideal solution for a senior in my life, but if he fell, he would need to ensure his reading glasses were on to even find this thing in the first place.

A nice little device. I saw some negative reviews so I thought I'd put in my 2 cents. I think I get how it works. This item works very well but you should understand a few things. The device itself is only a bluetooth device, not wifi. It will send a signal that is detectable by another bluetooth enabled device- ie a phone, tablet or android computer. Your android device needs wifi and bluetooth. Most devices have both. You download a special free app to the android device. You use that app to enter a list of phone numbers to be called. Your android device does not make the phone calls - the company's computers make the calls.So, you press the button. Your button sends a bluetooth signal to your android device that you have setup. The android device picks up the bluetooth signal with the free app and contacts the company' computer using wifi. The company's computers send a text and a phone message to everyone that you have specified. I have tested it and it works well.One note: your android device needs to be running the free app for it to work. And it needs to NOT be sleeping. Unfortunately, my old phone does not have a 'never sleep' screen function. If you have that problem, it is easily fixed by going into developer mode. If you keep the device in charging mode, the screen and app will always stay on.

While this product is easily converted to keychain carry mode, I had several false alarms over two days with the keys in my pocket. It takes three seconds to activate alarm... and evidently, that is about how long my keys rest against the activator button while my keys are in my pocket. There is no "safety switch" to shut this down when in pocket (or purse) carry. A two button activation sequence might be a better design.Otherwise... this is close to a good idea.

Another thing that they did not say on the site, is that in order to cancel an alertthat was pressed in error, you have to be within 30 seconds away from your phone. so If you happen to be outside, press it in error, and your house is locked, there is no way to get to your phone in 30 seconds to cancel and then you would have the people and authorities get your alert. Not good! I am returning the device as they did not tell of these problems on the site.

Very small but works great. A great value and easy to use.
