Vinyl LP pressing. Original soundtrack to the 2017 motion picture. The Greatest Showman is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. The Greatest Showman is directed by exciting new filmmaker Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson. Review: If You Love the Movie, You Will Really Love the Soundtrack! - I recently went to see The Greatest Showman with a bunch of people and was eyeballing this soundtrack before I saw the movie. I almost bought it but decided to hold off until I saw the movie. Well... I saw the movie and ended up buying the soundtrack shortly after returning home from the movie because I loved the music that much! Many of my friends have also bought it since seeing the movie and we all can't stop listening to it! The Greatest Showman is a musical based on Phineas Taylor (P.T.) Barnum's life as a showman who later became famous for the Barnum and Bailey Circus, the Greatest Show on Earth. I'm typically not a big fan of musicals even though I love music. While I loved the movie, I REALLY LOVED the music! It's so catchy, beautiful, and has more of a modern feel even though the movie takes place during the middle of the nineteenth century. This soundtrack contains 11 songs and spans about 40 minutes in length. Some familiar voices you'll hear are Hugh Jackman (who plays P.T. Barnum), Michelle Williams (Charity Barnum), Zac Efron (Phillip Carlyle), and Zendaya (Anne Wheeler). I purchased this soundtrack a couple days ago and have listened to it at least a dozen times all the way through! The songs are beautiful, upbeat, and fun to sing and dance to. I've been dancing all over the house while listening to this soundtrack and even my five-year-old twins join me! The music is fun for my kids to listen to also and they've said they like the songs. I love all of the songs but my favorites are The Greatest Show, A Million Dreams, Never Enough and Rewrite the Stars. I've listened to this soundtrack many times already and there are no signs of slowing down anytime soon! I've recommended both the movie and soundtrack to everyone I've talked with because they are that good. If you enjoy the movie, do yourself a favor and just purchase the soundtrack because you are going to want to listen to it every chance you get! Review: Great Album - Such A Beautiful Album The Music Is Amazing And No Better Way To Listen Than On Vinyl!!

A great surprise!
This show was as surprise hit for me, and it's thanks to a fabulous soundtrack and incredible choreography. The songs will get stuck in your head, so be forewarned! The Greatest Show - a strong opener, really knocks the audience for a loop as they appreciate this is not a typical musical, but something action packed, exciting, contemporary. Lots of fun. A Million Dreams - really a great theme piece for the show, the star of this is the beautiful rooftop dance between Williams and Jackman. Come Alive - I enjoy the pacing and percussion of this, but the vocal quality gets muddled a bit by the crowd singing The Other Side - super fun number with the incredible Efron and Jackman doing the most manliest musical choreography I've ever seen. A must watch, and great to listen to as well. Never enough - really needed more lyrics instead of just repeating "never enough" and "for me" over and over, but it is a great chance fo Allred to show off her musical talent, which is top flight This is Me - I may get hate for this but after listening to the soundtrack 20+ times we agreed that the singer for "This is Me" is a bit screechy for our tastes. I know there's a great story about the lady who sung it, etc., but her style is what I would call a bit "yelley". Rewrite the Stars - I love this one. It actually has a story as Efron tries to convince Zendaya they can be together. Wonderfully coreographed with the trapeze. Both of these singers knock it out of the park, with Efron easily handling the high notes and Zendaya bringing forth great emotion in her vocalization. Tightrope - a little hard to listen to because of its emotional content, I also find this to be my least favorite song. It's a bit bland and more of a rest between the power ballads in the film. From Now On - I love the intro to this. The transformation that Jackman's character undergoes is inspiring and feels applicable to other parts of life. You can sing the words to this song about other changes in life, with reforming and redemptive elements. My only criticism is I could have done without the repeated "and we will come back home, and we will come back home, home again" over and over. But I have a low tolerance for repeated lyrics. Anyways, go watch the movie and then come back for the soundtrack so you can sing along.

My 6 year old loves the soundtrack!
We listen to it over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over over and over and over

... in everyone's life when one has to acknowledge talent, class and style in others' work - and this is undoubtedly one of those occasions. I nearly did not go to see the film on the basis of a couple of deeply insulting and scathing 'reviews'. I am astounded that the critics could have got it so phenomenally wrong ! One need only look on IMDB to see how they spectacularly failed to understand what the majority of the British public desire in a feel-good movie ! (For anyone unfamiliar with IMDB, it is my considered opinion - formed over many years - that any film that has received more than 1000 ratings and been given an overall score in excess of 6/10 is worth watching. Of course this is a very general guide and depends in no small measure upon one's individual preferences.) The original music in this film is, without the lightest shadow of a doubt, the finest I have EVER heard in a cinematic work. They possess a power and a beauty that invariably have me weeping copious tears - and that, I assure you, is a rarity as I've been around a bit and am quite a hardened beast in many ways. Of course, as with all music, there is 'nothing new under the sun' and certain elements of ALL melodies will have been heard before (in some sort of similar combination) but it is often that familiarity which appeals to us ! And it is not as if it is merely one or two of the songs - EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is a chef-d'œuvre. I exaggerate not. You don't have to be a musician to appreciate the brilliance of the musical scores but if you happen to be then I am sure you will agree with me that all the parts - and the beautiful vocal harmonies - have a sensitivity, intelligence, magnificence and splendour about them; listen carefully to what is going on in the background (if that's your thing) and you will most certainly want to 'doff your cap' to the masterful composers ! Also, if you take the time to read the words for the songs (that are included with the CD) you will, I hope, realise how much work has gone into them and also how relevant they are to (almost) every person alive. There are some very subtle and telling changes made as certain songs progress and that increases their impact: the more you listen (and read), the more you will appreciate them ! Pure poetry. In fact, the only problem I have is that the songs go round and round in my head all day long ! It doesn't matter what I'm doing - washing up or making love or anything - I simply cannot shake them. In particular, from the moment I open my eyes, I have the refrain from "Never Enough" filling my 'blank thought space' and it's driving me crazy ! (Although I find that the tunes rotate through my brain on a regular basis - "Tightrope" is my current favourite !) If the music in this film does not receive some kind of award - and preferably more than one - then it will be a disgraceful travesty ... FV P.S. Although this is a CD, I must make mention of the superb performances of the actors and actresses in the film: their combined efforts truly make these glorious songs "Come Alive" ... x
