I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting book
I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting book. An intriguing story woven with good character development and interesting outcomes. You got to know the characters well and cared about them. The New York financial corporate world was fascinating to me and the impact of a 'rat race' lifestyle on an individuals development was beautifully illustrated.I look forward to the next book

Perfection. A must read!
A modern-day coming of age story written in transportive, lyrical prose. The characters are so relatable (and amazing) but the language in which they are wrapped makes you feel as though you're reading a book set in a slightly different mileu; a lighter, loftier one. I savored every word, every sentence, and every scene from this book. It's a must-read for anyone who loves grand stories, great novels, and gorgeous language.

Fake Plastic Love addresses many themes that will be familiar to many ...
Fake Plastic Love addresses many themes that will be familiar to many coming of age post 2000. With every path open to the high achieving characters in the book how do they know which one to take? There's always the fear of choosing "incorrectly" and missing out on some other opportunity. As a result either paralysis sets in and one gets stuck on a certain path (because that's what is expected of them) or they do their best to cultivate an image to a wider world that is anything but authentic. This book deftly follows its characters as they navigate this experience. For anyone who has ever lived in NY in their 20s, this book will bring warm feelings of nostalgia. Fake Plastic Love is beautifully written, thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Incredible debut novel from Kimberley Tait
Fake Plastic Love is an incredible debut novel from Kimberley Tait. With a narrative that is both lush with detail and cinematic in scope, the author takes us through the lives of two college graduates who head to New York City, eager to make something out of themselves and quickly becoming caught up in their own nebulous idea of success. The main characters sparkle with personality, their foibles and challenges are deeply familiar, and the description of The Bartholomew Brothers (an expy of Goldman Sachs, a previous employer of the author) is sure to entertain. I will be looking forward to the author's future works.

Great debut novel
The story of 2 friends, M and Belle who meet at Dartmouth and who move to New York City upon graduation. M joins a financial firm and is immediately thrown into a cut throat, agonizing work environment. Belle is a blogger and begins a relationship with an obnoxious co-worker of M's.This is a beautifully written debut novel and the reader is swept away in the lives of M and Belle. I really enjoyed this book and was happy to find out M's real name at the end of the book(no wonder she went by m!). Look forward to more books by this author.

Nothing fake or plastic here...
I really enjoyed this novel. It's my favorite sort of story, the kind that sucks you in and doesn't let you go. The pace is somewhat leisurely, but I wouldn't call it a slow read. I read it in two days. I would recommend it and I look forward to more from Kimberley Tait.

Unlikeable
As an avid reader who regularly seeks out lauded debut novels by young authors, was sorely disappointed. Pretentiously written, unsuccessful attempt to channel F. Scott Fitzgerald. Wholly unlikeable characters, blindly slow pace and completely overhyped.

What a delight!
I echo other reviews when I say this book is a joy to read, immediately transports me back to my own post-graduation days in NYC, and most definitely is a rousing conversation starter! Kimberley Tait writes with such grace and clarity making this a must-read for the summer. I devoured this book in <36 hours and immediately thought, “when can I get another book by this lovely author?” Put me on the pre-order list.

Too wordy
Reading this book i often fe!t the author must be getting paid by the word descriptive style drifts way off topic with no apparent purposeYou do care about the characters and their fate but the book could be 50% shorter and still tell the story

An Effervescent, Modern-Day Toast for all to “Be True”...
What a charming and utterly delightful read! Kimberley Tait captivated me from the start with her artfully polished and elegant writing style that harkens to a bygone era and catapults it forward into a modern-day setting. Her words sparkled into a vibrant, celebratory toast to individual ideals and truths too often muddled or masked by the blares and blasts of a 24/7 digital world. I found the writing to be heartfelt and earnest, almost as if the spirited beauty, strength and wit of Katharine Hepburn could be converted into words on paper. As the story unfolded, I found hints of my own twentysomething self in her characters, and I found myself wanting to pour a Pink Gin cocktail from Belle’s bamboo bar cart, rewind time and recapture some of the untarnished brilliance and innocence of youth skipping and winding through college lawns and the streets of New York that the author depicts so well. “From that loftiest perch the city’s grid really was remarkable–with streets and lives and loves lost and found linking together and laid out as a network of silver piping.” (I must also applaud the clever and astute observations of often-baffling Corporate America from a female perspective that are oh so amusingly threaded into the storyline!) Throughout my read, I found myself wistfully lost in the dreaminess of the song-like qualities of the writing and the characters themselves--so much so that when I reached the final pages of the final chapter, I experienced the similarly heart-shattering pang of emotion I feel the night before the last day of a perfect vacation--I didn’t want it to end. Cheers to a “glad-eyed” future and that it will be topped off with more “pretty” from the talented Kimberley Tait!

Beautiful, lyrical book
I thought this was going to be a piece of fluff, but it was a truly lovely book with so many passages that I wanted to remember. Another reviewer said it was "A Fitzgerald-esque look at a millennial world." I can't say it any better than that.

Beautifully written, deep messages
This was one of the best books I've read in a very long time. A Fitzgerald-esque look at a millennial world. This book examines friendship and love and also how we create worlds online for ourself that aren't a true representation of a person. It was so beautifully written, highly recommend! A Fitzgerald for a new generation.

Great read!
Such a fun and whimsical read. Kim gets to the heart and soul of her characters and brings us all along with her rooting for them to all win but knowing that life sometimes gets in the way. A wonderful first novel!

Great fun and perfect beach read
A friend recommended this book and I was not disappointed. It's uniquely written and was so fun to be immersed in. I plan to re-read this at the beach with a cold cocktail in hand. I also bought a copy for my sister!
