First setup failed - but now all is working...
Update to previous review! Turns out the problem was the Ardunio Mega 2650 I was using had a faulty voltage regulator on the 3.3V outlet so SPI communication would not work correctly. I tried a NodeMCU ESP8266 instead with the TFT_eSPI library by Bowder and it all works. And a MUCH simpler setup (no level shifters, etc) Touch sensitivity is a bit sluggish but acceptable for what I need to do so all is well at a great price! Previous review... Could not get it to work - the classic "white screen" problem. Note that unit requires level shifters to work with Ardunio Mega 2560 - that's not evident in the initial product description so read ALL the details carefully. It does comes with documentation and libraries you can download from vendor site but examples did not help and after checking and rechecking wiring and level shifter setup I gave up. Will try another brand.

Display and touch works with ESP32
I have this connected to a SEEED Studios XIAO ESP32S3 and I'm using the TFT_eSPI library in the Arduino IDE. The J1 jumper on the back is open. The J1 jumper is typically for switching between 3.3V and 5V supply, so being open would indicate it's currently configured for 5V Arduino boards as the product description says. However, the display still works fine on the 3.3V so I didn't mess with the jumper just yet. Apparently the voltage drop across the regulator is small, but I'll jumper it later just in case. If you're using a 5V MCU, remember you still have to level shift your MCU GPIO outputs to 3.3V. Initially I had a difficult time getting the touch capability to work. This TFT display was replacing a smaller 3.2" Hoysond TFT that used the ILI9341 display driver and the touch capability worked fine. Both displays use the XPT2046 chip for the touch control. I eventually stumbled on the solution: this TFT does NOT like the Serial Data Out pin (SDO MISO) to share the same GPIO as the Touch Data Out (T_DO). This worked fine for the 3.2" TFT but not on this one, presumably because of the different display driver. However, I had no actual use for the SDO pin since I was not trying to read anything from the display, so I completely disconnected it. Then the touch worked. I concluded this TFT MISO is not tristate, and if left connected it blocks output from T_DO. Here is my setup in User_Setup.h, specific to the XIAO ESP32S3. I did specify a pin for SDO MISO, but as noted above it is physcially disconnected. #define ST7796_DRIVER #define TFT_BL -1 #define TFT_MOSI 9 // D10 #define TFT_MISO 8 // D9 #define TFT_SCLK 7 // D8 (SCK label on the TFT board) #define TFT_CS 2 // D1 (SCK label on the TFT board) #define TFT_RST 4 // D3 #define TFT_DC 5 // D4 #define TOUCH_CS 1 // D0 (T_CS label on the TFT board) #define SPI_TOUCH_MOSI 9 // Explicitly forces touch engine onto GPIO 9 #define SPI_TOUCH_MISO 8 // Explicitly forces touch engine onto GPIO 8 #define SPI_TOUCH_CLK 7 // Explicitly forces touch engine onto GPIO 7 #define USE_HSPI_PORT #define SPI_FREQUENCY 27000000 #define SPI_TOUCH_FREQUENCY 2000000 #define SPI_READ_FREQUENCY 20000000

Works as advertised
Nice little display. I didn't like their touch driver but was able to use a dofferent one.

4.0 inch version, Not actually an ST7796S display — uses ILI9488 driver instead
This display works, but buyers should know that it is not an ST7796S panel even though the listing and documentation say it is. After a lot of testing, I confirmed the controller is actually an ILI9488, which requires a completely different initialization sequence and driver. If you try to use it with the Adafruit ST7796S library, you’ll get partial updates, white screens, clipping, and other strange behavior. Once I switched to TFT_eSPI with the ILI9488 driver, the display worked correctly at the full 480×320 resolution. Colors, rotation, and performance were all fine after that. The hardware itself is decent for the price, but the listing is misleading. Anyone planning to use this with ESP32 or Arduino should be aware that it needs the ILI9488 driver, not ST7796S.

Very Nice Display!
Very nice display! Worked great, and with AI, I was totally able to use this and learn. I liked it so well, I bought another. Use AI, know which driver the display needs, and start creating! And I'm a newbie with non-oled displays. But treat the display nicely! I cracked my first one by dropping it, so it was totally my fault.

Does not work directly with Mega2560
If you have a lot of patience, you might eventually get this TFT display to work. It says it is compatible with Mega2560 but not out of the box it isn't. And the Mega2560 does not directly plug into the display like a lot of other TFT displays do. That means you have to run individual wires and probably have to use an ESP32 instead. Overall the website is extremely misleading and returning to Amazon (recvd used unit!).

Fonctionne très bien
Ça fait plusieurs mois que je l’utilise et ça fonctionne toujours très bien Très facile à programmer

Faulty?
Graphics test works, constantly crashes when touch pins and calibration test are ran. Been at it consistently for a work, 3.3v to 5v changed my strap pins, tried everything and nothing gets the touch to boot properly

Blank white screen issue
After libraries were installed and wired the LCD screen correctly to my Arduino UNO, all I got was a blank white screen. No matter what I did—installing new libraries, reconnecting every pin, going through youtube videos to find solutions—it still only displayed a white screen. Had to return it because I suspect something is either wrong with the test case codes they provide or the LCD screen itself is faulty. Documentation was fairly confusing too.
