Q: Are these safety wellies?

No, they are justice ordinary wellies but with a short length, coming up to the bottom of the calf. The length makes it easy to tuck trousers into. I use them for beekeeping.

Q: How thick is the sole? With my current wellies I can feel the fork/spade when I push down with my foot. Will these be any better?

I find them OK but it probably depends on how hard is the ground

Q: Do you need to order a size up? So do i need to ordernmy shoe size or one bigger?

I ordered my proper size (8) and they are slightly too big..

Q: How wide are they regarding the calf?

Quite wide, don’t snug round your calf
