The News Is Good: Evangelism as a Way of Life

So thankful for this book! One of my favorite parts was the author’s commentary of the parable of the sower. God is not simply calling us to sow seed, God is calling us to work the soil.

This book is well written and provides all of us lay people with an example of how to spread the Good News of Jesus by focusing on the work of God in this world through relationships as opposed to a results-orientated focus on "saving souls". Dr. Stark aligns his own personal examples with the principles of Jesus' focus on Love and Community. If you are a Christian wondering how/when/where you should "go" to spread the good news, I would recommend reading this book to see how you can influence others as a result of how you live your life in your home, community, work, and how you treat those you come in contact with on a daily basis.

There are no shortage of books on evangelism but The News Is Good, by Jeff Stark, is one of the most encouraging and hope-filled resources I’ve read. While other resources have provided me incredibly helpful systems and tools to share the Gospel, Stark gives a vision for what it looks like to expose people to the love of Christ by intentionally living a life that builds authentic relationships with people who are desperate to hear good news.This book is for ANYONE who has experienced the hope, healing, and freeing love of Christ and has a desire for others to experience it as well. I would also encourage church leaders to consider ways to use this resource to ignite a movement of evangelistic living “good newsers” from within your church.

This book helped shape me as a good news-er. I was encouraged by the personal stories shared as well as the real-life applications and meaningful insight provided by Jeff. Above all, Jeff’s writing style is relatable and does not read as if he is above you — you as the reader get the feel of having a conversation with a friend rather than reading a book. I look forward to another book from the author.
