Stark, Dark, Brilliant!
R.J. Ellory has done it again. He has taken me on an emotional rollercoaster with dynamic prose. A story so visceral that I could feel deep in my bones and in my soul. I don’t know how R.J. does it, but he has once again upped his game to new heights. A Psychologist Thriller that is a Must Read!

Disappointed. For the first time.
This is the first time, in 15 books that I have not given 4, or more usually, 5 stars for R. J. Ellory's books. Having said that it was still a good read, just not quite up to the authors usually flawless standards. The reason for my 3 stars was purely down to the main character, who I found extremely irritating. I never bought into his almost whimsical attitude and speech. It just never seemed authentic. The story was good and well written and other reviewers have obviously not found the Sheriff a problem.Looking forward to the next one.

Ellory’s very best read in a long while!!
Gripping is an understatement. Most of the characters, settings and the storyline especially kept me reading long into the night. More please RJ. Having lived in Missouri myself and traveled much of the southern States your perfect descriptions of the characters and their colloquial language adds strong credence to story line.

excellent, explosive and a traumatic storyline
It took me a while to get used to the ‘talk’ but this latest book was well worth waiting for. A traumatic storyline, explosive and tense. Absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended

excellent Book
It’s a while since I have read a book by R.J Ellory, not by choice but because I forgot his name! I shan’t forget it again, I couldn’t put this book down, I was spellbound, it was so well written.

Not for me
While the plot was quite believable the dialogue between characters was minimal to say the least. Wouldn’t read any more by this author

R.J Does it again
What an enjoyable read!I was engrossed throughout and found the dialect so well done. The characters were all believable and fitted into the story precisely. Thank you so much again R.J.

Cast is too big
I always look forward to reading Ellorys books but I find that he is including too many characters lately , a list of names, who’s important, who isn’t, I find it hard going following the plot, dissapointing

His best
Slowly builds a head of steam and then relentlessly pushes it forward. Obviously everyone has their own opinions. In my opinion, this one moved along more than the others. I’ve read all but one. This is my favourite to date.
