These Gonicc 8" professional secateurs are really impressive. The bypass blades are sharp and cut cleanly, and I love the clever design of the spring - it’s not a traditional spring, which means it hasn’t rusted or failed like others I’ve used in the past. Even with heavy use since day one, they’ve held up perfectly. A high-quality, reliable tool for any gardener.

My Am-Tech ratchet pruners (two pairs) finally gave up the ghost after many years' hard use (unfortunately both at the same time as I'd bought them at the same time) and I needed to replace them immediately, before it became too late in the year to do some final essential pruning. Unfortunately the Am-Techs don't seem to be the same beasts any more (how often does this happen?...) so it was back onto Amazon to look at the reviews of other ratchet pruners. Impressed with the reviews for these Gonicc (who?) pruners I sent for a pair - fully intending to return them if they didn't do the job because, having previously bought pairs from garden centres and thrown them across the lawn in frustration, this time I was not going to end up with more duds. I'm back here to buy a third pair of these pruners (so I can keep a pair to hand at all key locations in the garden)... What pruners need to do is cut (and so many of the damned things just don't - they chew) - and these cut like a hot knife through butter. They cut through pretty slim twigs (not all ratchet pruners do) and they cut through amazingly thick branches (for pruners, obviously) using the ratchet mechanism. I had a lot to do because of the failure of my ancient trusty Am-Techs, but these pruners did it all. And my hands weren't even tired. Pruners need to cut. obviously, but they also need to sit easily and comfortably in the hand, have a ratchet mechanism which can be used without strain, not get stuck in thicker branches, and be easy to lock and unlock (a hurdle at which many ratchet pruners fall). These babies do it all, effortlessly. Obviously, having just bought these three pairs of Goniccs, I can't speak about their longevity but I can't see any weak points and I haven't felt any of the wrong sort of 'give' which would lead me to believe the pruners won't last. They are easy to clean and they seem pretty resistant to moisture. Absolutely recommended.

These are 5 times cheaper than a premium brand like Felco, so you would expect the quality to be lower. This is of course the case, but used sensibly they seem to be fine. If you deal with stems which are the size which cut with one hand without undue pressure you'll find the cutters sharp and efficient. With premium secateurs you can abuse them without ill effect. For example you might attempt a branch which you know is a little too big. You end up using two hands to squeeze them shut, or squeeze and rock up down left and right to get through the thick branch. You probably won't get away with that with these. The casting of the body, judging by the photos on the negative reviews here, is not premium grade aluminum. Therefore use a saw or loppers for branches which are too thick for easy cutting. Otherwise the casting may break. I purchased these as a second pair as sometimes my wife and I both need secateurs at the same time. These have been fine for light to medium duty pruning. They come extremely sharp and used as intended have remained that way. If they start requiring extra pressure this will mean they need sharpening. They are perfectly comfortable to use and thus far nothing has come loose. I'll keep an eye on tightness and adjust if necessary. Don't expect a premium product for bargain price and be sensible with them. Recommended.

Surprisingly good quality for the price. I used these to trim flowers for bud vases at my wedding, and they worked perfectly — sharp, sturdy, and easy to handle. They cut through stems cleanly without crushing them. I’d definitely keep these on hand for both floral work and general gardening.

Update: I had the retaining screw that holds the lock sprocket for the center sprocket strip out. This allowed the center sprocket to loosen and come undone. I contacted Gonicc by email, and within hours had an email back apologizing for my troubles and had a discount code to order a new pair for free. They also included in the email that should I still be unsatisfied they would gladly refund my entire purchase price. Unbeatable customer service!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are great pruners. I have really enjoyed using them in my rose garden since receiving them. Here's some thoughts: Pros - Price. I feel these were very reasonably priced for the quality that you get. So much so in fact, that I bought two pairs, one pair for me and one for my wife. - Sharp! These things are incredibly sharp. I also found that when trimming thick rose canes, they cut clean through and don't tend to turn sideways making tearing cuts like some other cheap pruners I've used. - Ergonomic. The foam grips on the handles don't bite into your hands like pruners with plastic and metal handles can tend to do. They are really comfortable. I do feel that this is where they could fail after long-term use. I think that there's a chance that this foam will break down and/or tear. I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker, as that's the nature of such a material. We'll see how long they last and if the manufacturer can provide replacement grips should they do fail. Cons: None to report for now. Overall, these are superb pruning shears. They have already taken a beating in my rose garden and remain sharp, with no issues to report. They cut great and I look forward to using them for a long time. Time will truly tell how well they last. If they make it more than two years, I will consider them a resounding success, as that's all I've got out of any other pair that I've owned. die Gartenschere ist die bis her beste Gartenschere, die ich mir angeschafft habe. Besonders das die keine Feder hat macht sie sehr stabil. Schnittleistung ist sehr gut und das Preis unschlagbar. Ich kann die Gartenschere wirklich mit sehr gutem Gewissen empfehlen.
